New Cell Phone and Electronics Policy
Cell Phone Visibility and Use in Classrooms
Students should store phones in the office or phone holders in classrooms during the school day to reduce distractions and protect personal property.
Cell phones must be turned off or set to silent and placed in the phone holder.
Headphones, smartwatches, and other accessories are prohibited
during class time as well.
Consequences of Policy Violations
If caught with a phone/accessories, teachers will confiscate it and place it in the phone holder.
Students refusing to give up your phone/accessory will be sent home for the day.
Repeat offenders will be required to leave their phones in the office for the day.
Students may use their phones:
Before school, during passing periods, and at lunch, unless otherwise restricted by staff.
During Math, F Clearinghouse, and PE, unless otherwise restricted by staff.
All use of personal electronic devices during school times or during school-sanctioned events is subject to the KPBSD Acceptable Use Policy.
Special Considerations
If a student needs access to their phone for medical reasons or other approved accommodation, they must have documentation on file with the administration.
The school is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged phones.

Principal's Message
Welcome Back to Kenai Alternative!
Dear Students and Families,
Welcome back to another exciting school year at Kenai Alternative High School! We hope you had a restful and rejuvenating summer. It’s been a great start to the year, and we’re thrilled to see the energy and enthusiasm our students have brought into the building.
We’re especially proud to share that Rotation 1 brought an increase in our student body to 42 students—a sign of the trust our community continues to place in the unique and supportive environment we strive to create here at Kenai Alternative.
One of our key goals this year is to reach an attendance rate of 81%, and we’re off to a strong start. Through August and September, we’ve already exceeded that goal with an attendance rate of 85%. Thank you to our students and families for making attendance a priority—it’s one of the most important factors in student success.
As we move forward into the year, we remain committed to providing a positive, respectful, and engaging educational experience for every student. If you ever have questions, concerns, or just want to check in, please don’t hesitate to reach out or stop by.
Here’s to a successful and meaningful school year!

School Development Goals
Our goals for the 2025-26 school year are a continuation from the progress we made last year in the areas of improving attendance and graduation rate and social emotional awareness.
For SY 2025-26, Kenai Alternative High School will increase the graduation rate to 55% and in turn decrease our drop out rate to less than 25% by offering credit earning opportunities through the continues implementation of the 6 rotation schedule, offering Academic Academy classes and partnering with community organizations with credit offerings
For SY 2025-26 Kenai Alternative will continue working to increase student's ability to remain clam even when under stress by 8% (to 80%) and the KPBSD Climate and Mindset annual survey through the mentorship classes and community building activities.
For SY2025-26 Kenai Alternative will be working to increase our attendance rate past 81% by emphasizing relationships in our mentorship classes. Last years attendance goal was 73%.
