From the Superintendent:
- Dr. Secaur began the meeting by providing additional information related to the incident where a handgun was discovered in the backpack of a student at High School West. He shared that the district's PPS staff would be available for anyone who needs assistance. He noted that the investigation was ongoing and he was limited in what he could share, but he did state that the student was never unaccompanied on the day in question and the situation was reported, investigated and acted upon swiftly without incident. He shared that the district was thankful a student made the district aware of the social media post which allowed us to act quickly and manage the situation effectively. He also expressed that the district is very grateful for the partnership and support we have received from the Suffolk County Police Department.
