Building Community Partnerships for Diverse Learning @ STL

It's an exciting time at STL as we build connections to offer students different and unique learning opportunities! Mme Gravelle spent Wednesday afternoon at the South Cooking Lake Airport working with the Cooking Lake Aviation Academy newly named Alberta College of Aeronautics! This partnership offers grades 5-8 the opportunity on May 30th to spend the day learning about flight, getting into the cockpit of planes, learning with pilots and flight instructors and learning about careers in aeronautics! Students will also get a chance to try their hand at taking off, flying and attempting to land a plane in the simulator!! Very grateful for this unique opportunity...and this is just the beginning!

In-School Field Trips for Great Learning!

These exceptional programs offer excellent hands-on learning opportunties and it's so exciting to see the student's pride of their accomplishments when they show Mme Gravelle their creations! These log cabins are awesome! This in-school field trip is connected to the Social Studies curriculum that helps us understand our historical communities!

Sharing & Connecting Circles with 7&8s

Each Monday morning with Mrs. K and each Friday morning with Mr. Mak, our Junior High students practice their abilities to listen, present, connect and defend their ideas, while critically thinking about different topics. Before each circle, they review expectations on how to respect each other, actively listen as well as honour each other's time and space. The questions are thought-provoking and insightful! This Monday's question was "If you could get the answer to an unanswered question, what would that question be and why?"

😀 😀 😀 😀 😀

The Last Supper The Last Supper

Thanks to Mrs. Williamson, we were able to celebrate the significance of the Last Supper and then break bread together, and drink "the fruit of the vine" together in our classrooms. Staff and guest parents also honoured this sacred moment together.

Veneration of the Cross Veneration of the Cross

On Wednesday we explored the horrible ways Jesus was treated, and how He voluntarily took all of our sins to the cross so that they could be forgiven. By doing this, He opened the door for us to go to Heaven. He paid our debt. A debt He didn't owe.

So we honoured the cross and all that Jesus took to the cross out of pure love for us.

Washing of the Feet Washing of the Feet

Jesus taught us by example. He showed us how to love each other and be in service of each other through the act of washing the feet of others. On Thursday, staff and parents had the opportunity to model this love and service to students why washing the feet of others. We discussed that being a great leader means being in service to others.

  • The REAL Foundation donates approximately $30,000 a year to support Religious Education Activities within EICS, such as funding a portion of the bibles for every Grade 4 student, funds for opening day guest speakers, and funds for student religious retreats such as Face to Face Ministry. Their annual golf tournament is their only source of fundraising to support these activities in EICS. They are seeking sponsors, golfers, and donations in order to maintain the level of funding that they have provided us over the past few years. Your support in promoting the golf tournament, sponsorship, and raffle is greatly appreciated.

    • The REAL Foundation is looking for any school/division swag that they could use for door prizes at the golf tournament. If you have any items that you would be willing to donate, or that have been sitting in your storage rooms that you would like to get rid of, please send them to CLS, attention Lisa. The REAL Foundation is extremely appreciative of your support.

BREAK THE RULES DAY! BREAK THE RULES DAY!

zoom_out_map

We are excited to share that our amazing students at St. Luke came together to "Break the Rules" and support Lurana House Shelter, a safe haven for women and children fleeing domestic violence.

We successfully raised over $600, showcasing the power of compassion, teamwork, and community spirit.

We're incredibly proud of our students, staff, and families for their generosity and commitment to making a difference.

Together, we are creating a stronger, safer community, one act of kindness at a time.
