      • Ms Galella, Library: 4th Floor Library

      • Mr DiFranco, Music: room 401

      • Ms Barnes, Science: room 302

      • Ms Ali and Mr Mark, PE: Big Yard (or Cafeteria in case of rain)

    • Classroom teachers will also be available in their classrooms for an open house style meet and greet from 5:30-6:25 pm.

We will provide childcare in the Big Yard only for current PS 107 students, which will be supervised by school staff (rain location will be the Cafeteria, and the teachers and counselors scheduled to be in Cafeteria will move to the basement hallway). Note that we have limited staff available for childcare as most staff will be participating in Curriculum Night. Therefore, if you can, we recommend leaving your children at home. We look forward to seeing many of you today between 4:30 and 7:30 pm!

WHAT IS THE SCHOOL LEADERSHIP TEAM?

This week, I want to share some important information about a key team at PS 107, the School Leadership Team (SLT). The SLT is a collaborative entity that is made up equally of parents and school staff. The SLT is primarily tasked with developing the PS 107 Comprehensive Education Plan (CEP), a formal document that details our school’s priorities and specifies how we are aligning our budget with those priorities each school year. In addition, the SLT has regular conversations about policies that impact the entire school community. If you have questions or concerns about any of those policies or would like to bring something to the SLT’s attention, you may email sltparents@ps107.org. The parent representatives on the SLT will be monitoring this account.

The agenda and minutes for every SLT meeting are posted on our school’s website here. SLT meetings are also open to the public and parents are welcome to join the monthly meetings in-person or via Zoom. [Note that, per the SLT bylaws, visitors attend as observers only, and not meeting participants.] All meetings are held in-person in the PS 107 Conference Room. You can find the names of the SLT representatives, meeting dates, as well as the Zoom link to join the meetings remotely, on the PS 107 website’s SLT page.

Coming in next week’s Wednesday Weekly, some exciting news about our school garden! Have a wonderful week!

Warmly,

Ms Joanna

LOST & FOUND - Visit the lost & found this evening at Curriculum Night!

The Virtual Lost & Found document will be updated next week. Instead, you can check out the lost and found in person!

When you come here for Curriculum Night :)

We ask families to please label your child's belongings with their first and last name. I recently had a lost item come into the lost & found and was able to easily return it to the child. I obtained permission to post this picture to show another way to label clothes.

A stamp! It is an easy way to be sure items return to you and you don't have worry about the label coming off :)

Here is the link to the website if you are interested : https://thenamestamp.com/

Please be sure to check for your child's lost items in this virtual lost & found document: Did You Lose Me?

*If you see an item you now have in your possession, please just ignore the picture in the document

PS 107 MILE TRIAL - Sunday, September 29th, at 10:00 AM in Prospect Park!

The 2nd PS 1.07 Mile Trial is days away! Get your tickets now!

This year, 100% of all proceeds will be going to charity, but this time it will support Coach Katie and Coach Leslie’s fundraising for the Chicago Marathon! They’ll be running the marathon with the Children’s Tumor Foundation Team, so 100% of their fundraising goes directly to CTF research and awareness.

We don’t want this to just be for kids on the track team, all PS 107 kids and families are invited to run!

Attached below is the flyer and the link to the Eventbrite. The links on the flyer take you to the CTF website and the Eventbrite: PS 107 MILE TRIAL EVENT SIGN UP

Tickets will be $25. If anyone reaches out about needing a scholarship, or wanting to run but not being able to pay, please let us know.

REMINDERS

FAMILY INCOME FORMS

All families should complete the Family Income Inquiry Form, which helps schools receive money for their programs ,whether or not they qualify for free or reduced lunch.

NYC SCHOOLS ACCOUNT - NYCSA

This is a NYC DOE parent account for students grades K - 12 that enables parents/guardians to view all of their children’s records - grades, fitnessgrams, attendance, your child’s DOE email, etc. At least one parent/guardian will need to have access to this account. We strongly encourage all parents/guardians to have their own account. Any parent with children in grades k-5 who does not have their own NYSCA , please contact nbenlarbi2@schools.nyc.gov for instructions and your unique account creation code.

SCHOOL BREAKFAST FOR 2024-2025

PS 107 will no longer be offering bagged breakfast for students to eat in their classrooms daily. We will continue to offer free breakfast, but in order to take advantage of it, students must come to school between 8 and 8:10 am for breakfast. They will be supervised in the cafeteria by PS 107 staff members. There is no sign up required to have school breakfast. Students just need to come through the main entrance with a caregiver to the safety agent desk and let Agent Sharon know they are there for breakfast. Students will be dismissed to their classrooms at 8:20 am. Students will not be admitted for breakfast in the cafeteria after 8:10 am daily. Note that children will not be denied breakfast if they arrive late! Any child who arrives after 8:20 am (the start of the school day) and needs breakfast can pick up a bagged "breakfast after the bell."

SCHOOL LUNCH FOR 2024-2025

School lunch will continue to be offered to all students for free daily. Most likely, PS 107 will use the PreK-8 Express Hot Lunch menu. The best way to keep track of what is being served is on the NYCPS website. You can find the link to view menus on this page. Note that food substitutions may occur based on supply chain issues, and we do not recommend relying on school food if your child is not a flexible eater. 😀

2024-2025 ANNUAL FORMS

The following forms are currently available for completion via Operoo:

  • Emergency Blue Card

  • Daily Dismissal form

  • Media Consent form (for new-to-NYC Public Schools students only)

  • Prospect Park and Neighborhood Walking Trip permission slip

  • Park Slope Armory YMCA consent form

At this time, these forms should already be completed. If you have not completed these forms, please complete them ASAP. Thank you 😊

JOIN KONSTELLA!

A great deal of schoolwide parent communication at PS 107 is sent out via the Konstella platform. If you are not already signed up for Konstella, please follow the directions here.

When you have your child’s classroom assignment, you will follow the instructions to add yourself to the classroom here in our Konstella Cheat Sheet.

If you have difficulty or have any questions, please reach out to the Communications Team at communications@ps107.org or Nadia Benlarbi, PS 107’s Parent Coordinator at nbenlarbi2@schools.nyc.gov.

HELPFUL TIPS

MAKING SCHOOL DAY DISMISSAL PICK-UP CHANGES

If there is a change to your child’s dismissal, please be sure to note the change on the Daily Dismissal form in Operoo. If it is a same day change, please email your child’s teacher and cc Nadia at nbenlarbi2@schools.nyc.gov in addition to making any changes on the Daily Dismissal form. You can also contact the main office at 718-499-2054.

LOWER GRADES

Please be sure to send your children to school with a full change of clothes. Accidents can happen easily when they are younger as they often get distracted and don’t check in with their bodies. Please be sure to return your child with a new set the next day if they need to be replaced.

LABEL!

Please parents, remember to label your student’s water bottles, lunch boxes, backpacks, and clothing with their full name (last names are essential!) and if there is space, please include their class number. We want to be able to return all fabulous items to their rightful owner!

IDENTIFICATION

When entering the school building you must present your ID to the safety agent when signing in.

One helpful tip is to take a picture of your id. Often, we will have our phone with us even if we don’t have our id. This way, you always have it handy :)
