OCEAN Attendance
Did you know you can view your student’s attendance record in Skyward?
If you receive an automated message saying your student was absent when you weren’t expecting it, you can log in to Skyward, go to the Attendance tab, and see what your student was marked absent for.
Bellow is an example of what your skyward attendance would look like.
We want to make attendance as easy as possible for OCEAN families!
If your student is going to be absent, please excuse the absence by:
Emailing: oceanattendance@ptschools.org
Calling the OCEAN office: 360-680-5750
You may still receive an automated attendance notification if you contact us after 10:30 a.m. No worries! If you have already emailed or called the school, our OCEAN office staff will make sure the absence is excused.
School On Monday - Indigenous Peoples Day
We have school on Monday October 12th. If you have class on Monday, see you then! Happy Indigenous Peoples Day!
OCEAN Family Campout Oct 9-11
OCEAN families are meeting up for a fun campout at the Wagon Wheel campground at Fort Flagger. This is a fun community building event! Although there may be staff there, this is not a school event, so families are responsible for supervising their kids and can not drop them off. Questions? Please text Amy @ (360)821-1847 or email kilhamamy@gmail.com if you have any questions. Bring Games, Music and stories! There will be a group Sunday breakfast.
The district does not sponsor this event/information and the district assumes no responsibility for it. In consideration of the privilege to distribute materials, the Port Townsend School District will be held harmless from any cause of action filed in any court or administrative tribunal arising out of the distribution of these materials, including costs, attorney’s fees and judgments or awards.

Student of the Week
Makayla Roberts
Makayla is a kind and caring student who consistently shows how much she cares about the people around her. She takes the time to ask others how they are doing, and at the end of class, she always makes a point to say thank you and wish me a great day. Her thoughtfulness and positive attitude make a difference!
This year, in addition to her regular classes, Makayla has taken on a leadership role as our co-copy editor for the yearbook. She is helping create a yearbook that will capture and celebrate our school community and make this year memorable for everyone.
Makayla, your kindness, thoughtfulness, and willingness to step up as a leader help make OCEAN a great place to be! Keep it up!

This Week at OCEAN
This week, our Careers Class was hard at work developing framing skills using hand tools. OCEAN has been partnering with Community Works for this class and is now beginning a new partnership with OWL 360. We’re excited about this new opportunity and look forward to sharing more soon!
Our Open Doors students were welcomed for a special tour of Glendale Farm in Chimacum, where agriculture, restoration, art, and inclusivity come together. Students had the opportunity to explore the farm and pick beautiful apples to bring home. A big thank you to Seth for welcoming our students and sharing this wonderful space with us!
Our high school Career Class students are also gaining hands-on experience in entry-level healthcare professions by working alongside our wonderful school nurse. Thank you, Starla, for sharing your knowledge and helping our students explore careers in healthcare!
In High School Art, projects are moving from the design phase into creation. We’re excited to see students bringing their ideas to life!

Circus Show
Two of our OCEAN students are in this Local Circus Show!
Centrum Event Production Workshop
Jefferson County Teens are invited to join us for our upcoming event production workshop. This fall we will work with adult mentors to produce a gallery exhibit and record release party.
Students meet weekly on Wednesday afternoons to delve into the intricacies of artistic event production. We are now seeking young visual and performing artists to be a part of the show.
Transportation is provided from local schools if needed, and thanks to generous donations, membership is on a sliding fee scale. Returning members who are musicians (those who participated in our spring showcase) are invited to have their music recorded at Rain Shadow Recording (dates and times outside of regular program hours). We will also celebrate our successful event with an optional field trip to Seattle to attend a musical performance at The Moore theater.
All students interested in careers in the arts are invited to join.
More info can be found here:

Please share with any interested youth that you know and reach out to me with questions.
