A Personal Note from Your District Governor
As your District Governor, I want to remind everyone that I would never contact you privately to ask for financial assistance, gift cards, electronic payments, or money to purchase anything for me personally.
If you ever receive an email, text message, social media message, or phone call that appears to come from me requesting money, gift cards, Zelle, Venmo, PayPal, cryptocurrency, or any other personal financial assistance, please assume it is a scam until you have verified it with me directly.
If I ever ask for support for a District project or Lions initiative, it will always be communicated through official District channels and will clearly explain the purpose of the fundraiser or service project.
If you are ever unsure whether a message is legitimate, please don't hesitate to contact me directly before responding. I'd much rather answer a quick phone call than have one of our Lions become the victim of fraud.
Thank you for helping protect yourself and our Lions family.
DG Paula Hilbert

Dear Club Presidents, Secretaries, and Club Administrators,
One of the greatest privileges we have in Lions is the opportunity to recognize those members who continually demonstrate what it means to live our motto, “We Serve.”
I am asking each club in District 14-P to consider nominating an outstanding Lion from your club for a Pennsylvania Counselors Award.
Every club has members who go above and beyond. They may be the Lions who are always the first to arrive at a service project and the last to leave. They may quietly work behind the scenes, take on responsibilities whenever they are needed, mentor newer members, support their fellow Lions, or dedicate countless hours to making their club and community stronger.
Sometimes these Lions do not seek recognition—and those are often the very people we should take the time to recognize.
As you consider a nominee from your club, think about a Lion who:
Demonstrates a strong commitment to Lionism and our motto, “We Serve.”
Regularly participates in club service projects, fundraisers, and activities.
Shows dedication to their club and community.
Is willing to step forward when help is needed.
Encourages and supports fellow Lions.
Demonstrates leadership through service, whether or not they hold an official title.
Has made a meaningful difference in the success of your Lions Club.
Please provide the Lion's name, years of service, positions held if applicable, service activities, accomplishments, and a brief explanation of why you believe this Lion deserves to be recognized.
I especially encourage you to look around your club and think about those dedicated Lions who may not always receive the recognition they deserve. This is an opportunity to say thank you for their commitment, hard work, and service.
Our clubs are strong because of Lions who continue to give their time, talents, and hearts to serving others. Recognizing these individuals is also an important part of building the bench—showing our newer Lions that dedication, leadership, and service are valued and appreciated.
Please submit your nomination to me no later than October 25, 2026.
Thank you for taking the time to recognize the outstanding Lions within your club and for everything you continue to do for District 14-P and the communities we serve.
Yours in Lionism,
Paula Hilbert
District Governor
Lions District 14-P
2026–2027
Notes From Your FVDG
I have completed my project and shared the results with our District Governor, Paula Hilbert. Our next step will be to look at those townships, boroughs and cities in our district that are currently not being served by a Lions Club and develop plans to provide them with the service of a club. The results will be available to all Lions once DG Paula has had the opportunity to look them over and give me the approval to share them. I look forward to visiting clubs in our district and getting to know the volunteers that make up District 14-P. Let's work on increasing membership, developing leadership, providing more services and trying to have fun while doing so.
I encourage every club to have at least one member trained in the use of the Lion portal, and that you put all your services into the portal. Reporting services serves your club as well as the district and LCI. If you have questions about why and how, just ask me!
Lions Eyes Article for August 2026
2VDG-Elect – Matt Hensinger, Global Membership Coordinator for District 14P.
On the 22nd of August I was honored to attend the District 14P Cabinet Meeting in Boyertown as your Second Vice District Governor. In the past, I sat in the back of the room; but now was asked to sit at the front table beside our District Governor Paula as she leads the Cabinet in the administration of the District. It made me think about the importance of the District. Here are some thoughts on this topic.
What is the Importance of District 14P?
District 14P is important because it serves as a regional hub for community service, civic engagement, and volunteer leadership in Berks and Chester Counties, Pennsylvania, through its affiliation with Lions Clubs International.
What is our Community Service and Civic Impact?
As part of Lions Clubs International, District 14P organizes, assists, charts and supervises local Lions clubs, coordinates their activities, and fosters a spirit of understanding among people from diverse backgrounds.
The District mission includes:
· Promoting good government and good citizenship.
· Supporting the civic, cultural, social, and moral welfare of the community.
· Encouraging service-minded individuals to contribute without personal financial reward.
· Maintaining high ethical standards in business, industry, professions, and public works.
How do we provide Volunteerism and Leadership?
District 14P provides a platform for volunteers to:
· Serve their communities through local projects and initiatives.
· Build friendships and mutual understanding among members.
· Offer a forum for open discussion of public issues without partisan politics or sectarian religion.
District 14P’s Broader Significance.
By uniting local clubs under a single district, District 14P strengthens regional cooperation, amplifies community outreach, and ensures consistent service standards. This network helps address local challenges, supports youth development, and promotes a culture of volunteerism that benefits both the immediate community and the global Lions movement.
In short, District 14P is important because it connects local service clubs into a coordinated, ethical, and impactful network that improves community life and fosters civic responsibility.
One personal takeaway I have from every Cabinet meeting I have attended in the past few years since becoming a Cabinet member… we need more members at every level! At the club level, at the district level, at the Constitutional Area and Internationally! Why, you ask? Because more members equal more service… and we need them more than ever. Ask someone to become a new member today!

Summer is almost over and the beginning of the new program year offers
a powerful fresh start. It is a time to spark curiosity, set clear goals, and
welcome new members and new ideas. One of the ways we can do this is
to build trust and excitement early through projects and activities and open communication.
Here are some ideas to help you start strong –
At each meeting, share a simple, positive quote.
Invite your members to share suggestions for projects and/or activities.
Have a plan to share your story with the community.
“You’re off to great places! Today is your day! Your mountain is waiting. So … get on your
way!” -- Dr. Seuss in “Oh, the Places You’ll
Go!”

On June 13, Lion Nelson Mollar was appointed Chairperson of Altru Vision. He will serve a two-year term. A large group of Exeter Lions attended to support Lion Mollar. It was mentioned that the group would visit Altru Vision on July 24 and then proceed to the Clay Studios to make butterflies. I asked whether there was room for one more participant, and they said yes. We arrived at Altru Vision at noon, just in time for lunch. Afterward, we had a brief tour of the lab before being taken to the Clay Studios. Following a few simple instructions, everyone quickly became comfortable with the process. Did you know there are two sizes of butterflies? The larger butterfly is given to the family that has lost a loved one. A smaller butterfly is cut out from the larger one, and the smaller butterfly is sent to the recipient. This typically takes place around the six-month anniversary.
On August 6, the eye bank staff and trustees will attend the Phillies game. We hope they win.
On September 28, the annual Golf Outing will be held at Blue Heron Pines Golf Club in New Jersey.

Dear Leo and Lion Cub Advisors,
The new school year is almost here, and it’s time to get our Leo and Lion Cub Clubs back in action! This is an exciting time of year, and your leadership and support can make a tremendous difference in the success of our young volunteers.
With school starting at the end of the month, please reach out to your School Leo and Lion Cub Advisors. Pass along the months of service that Lions President Mark Lyons has planned for the coming year and encourage your clubs to start thinking about how they can participate.
Most importantly, let your Leo and Lion Cub Clubs know that you are there for them. Your encouragement, ideas, and willingness to help can inspire young people to become better leaders and make a real difference in their communities.
🦁 Leo of the Year Award
It’s also time to start thinking about the Leo of the Year Award. The application is due to me by October 31. I know this gives us a short window, but the applications must then be submitted to the District and State.
My suggestion is to consider a Leo from last year who is continuing this year and who demonstrated exceptional leadership, dedication, and commitment to service. This is a wonderful opportunity to recognize a young person who has gone above and beyond.
I will attach the application at the end of this message.
📋 Don’t Forget to Report Your Service!
Please remember to report your Leo and Lion Cub service activities in the Lions Portal. Every service project matters, and reporting those activities helps us show the incredible work our young people are doing throughout District 14P.
If you need help with the Lions Portal, or if you would like me to report your club’s activities for you, just send me the information. I’ll be happy to help!
📰 Share Your Stories!
We also want to hear about the great things your Leo and Lion Cub Clubs are doing. Please send articles and pictures of your activities to lioneyes14p@gmail.com for inclusion in the Lion Eyes newsletter.
A picture, a short story, or a description of a service project can help showcase the enthusiasm and dedication of our young volunteers and inspire other clubs to get involved.
Let’s Make It a Great Year!
As we begin another year of service, remember that you are an important part of the success of our Leo and Lion Cub programs. Your support helps young people discover the rewards of serving others, develop leadership skills, and become tomorrow’s Lions.
Let’s work together to make 2026–2027 a fantastic year for Leo and Lion Cub service throughout District 14P!
As always, I am here to help in any way I can. If you have a question, need assistance, or just want to talk through an idea for your club, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
Let’s get our young people serving, leading, and making a difference!

PEACE POSTER CONTEST
It's not too early to start thinking which schools you can contact about the PEACE POSTER CONTEST.
September to Deadline in October is a very short time for the students to work on their posters.
For last year's contest the District only received 2 posters. The Poster doesn't have to come from a Leo; any student can enter. Please think about reaching out to schools in your area and encourage them to do a poster.
Our Peace Poster Contest Brings Your Community Together
The Peace Poster Contest invites young people around the world to express their creativity while sharing their unique vision of peace. This special blog shows the powerful impact the contest has on our clubs, our youth and our communities.
