🐾 PBIS Update 🐾
What is PBIS?
Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) is a school-wide approach focused on explicitly teaching and encouraging positive behaviors, creating a supportive environment where all students can thrive.
As a PBIS school, we use common positive language and consistent expectation within our community to help students succeed socially, emotionally and academically. We aim to recognize and reinforce behaviors aligned with our school values: Caring, Understanding, Brave and Safe (CUBS).
🐯Recognizing Positive Behavior with Tiger Tokens!🐯
One way we reinforce our CUBS core values—Caring, Understanding, Brave, and Safe—is through our Tiger Token system!
Ask your child if they earned a Tiger Token this week and what they did to receive it. Students who demonstrate our core values may be recognized with a token, which they add to their classroom token jar.
When a class fills their jar, they celebrate together as a classroom community. So far, three classes have reached this goal, and many others are getting close!
Each time a class fills their jar, we also add a tiger paw to our school-wide Tiger Trail. Once the trail is complete, we’ll celebrate as an entire school!
Our current goal? To fill the Tiger Trail and earn a trip to the Kingdom Corn Maze and Pumpkin Patch at Simpson Farm in Sutton. Let’s keep showing those CUBS values!
Next time you visit, I encourage you to ask your child to show you our tiger trail to see how close we are to achieving our goal.

🦺 School Safety Drills 🦺
🔥Fire Drill Practice🔥
On Thursday, September 4, we conducted a fire drill to ensure everyone is familiar with our safety procedures. All students and staff exited the building quickly and safely—in under two minutes!
We’re proud of our students for demonstrating our CUBS core values throughout the drill. Great job, everyone!

Grade 4 Field Trip Floating Classroom Field Trip on the Northern Star in Newport
Floating Classroom Field Trip on the Northern Star in Newport
When: September 23
This field trip is rain or shine! Please bring a rain layer and dress appropriately for the weather! Closed-toed shoes and a water bottle are REQUIRED. All students will be provided and fitted with appropriate floatation devices while aboard the Northern Star.
A little about the trip:
Presented by: Memphremagog Watershed Association (MWA), in collaboration with Memphremagog Science and Education Center (MemSEC), NorthWoods Stewardship Center, and with funding from Watersheds United Vermont (WUV).
This experience is a continuation of the 3rd grade Youth Discovery Program at Prouty Beach, held last spring. The goal is to continue the hands-on watershed education your student(s) started in the spring with a more immersive program as 4th graders. On the Northern Star, students learn about watershed health and dive into a range of topics including: turbidity observation, the collection of Benthic invertebrates and identification under a microscope, discussions of stresses that impact Lake Memphremagog and discussion of geographic and topographic aspects of the environment and historical use and impacts of the Lake.
