Aurora Mental Health
Hello Mission Viejo families! My name is Na Maestas, and I am a School-Based Therapist from Aurora Mental Health & Recovery (AMHR) serving students at Mission Viejo Elementary. I provide behavioral and mental health services during the school day for children who may be experiencing big feelings, behavioral challenges, life stressors, social difficulties, or neurodivergent needs. While I work closely with the school, I am employed by AMHR and partner with families and school staff to help children reach their therapeutic goals and thrive both at school and at home.
If you have questions, concerns, or would like to learn more about available supports for your child, please feel free to reach out. You can call or text 303-923-6923, email NaMaestas@AuroraMHR.org, or schedule a phone call or meeting through my scheduling page. I look forward to supporting you and your child throughout the school year.

Library Experience Feedback
We’d Love to Hear From You!
Mission Viejo is one of four Title I elementary schools participating in a three-year district pilot program that provides a certified Teacher Librarian in our school. This year marks the third and final year of the pilot, and we are gathering information to help tell the story of the impact our library program has had on students, families, and our school community.
Can you please take a few minutes to complete our short survey? Every response is valuable, and even a few sentences can help us tell our story!

Families @ The Library: Come Stock Up on Books!
Did you know families can check out books from our school library? Stop by each Tuesday from 2:45–3:45 and stock up on great books to enjoy at home! It’s an easy way to keep plenty of books on hand for your family—right here at school.
Bring a bag and choose a stack of books to enjoy at home. Stay and enjoy one of our optional family activities, or just pop in for a quick checkout.
We’d love to see you at the library!
Visitors and Student Check Out
For the safety of all students, a valid photo ID is required whenever you enter the building or check out a student.
Please have your photo ID ready when you arrive. No exceptions will be made, even if our staff knows you personally. This procedure helps us maintain a safe and secure environment for all students and staff.
Volunteer Application
All volunteers (including classroom volunteers, field trip chaperones, event helpers, and room parents) must complete the 2026-2027 Volunteer Application each school year. Once approved, you'll receive access to Verkada's faster QR code check-in feature.
Complete the volunteer application here:

Traffic Safety
Safety is our top priority. This is an important reminder to please follow all parking lot and traffic safety rules during drop-off and pick-up times to ensure the safety of all students, families, and staff.
Please Remember:
No double parking
No U-turns
Do not allow students to walk/run through the parking lot
Slow down and stay alert at all times
Bikes, skateboards, and scooters must remain on the sidewalk
Walk bikes, skateboards, and scooters once on school grounds
Parents must remain in their vehicles while in the drop-off/pick-up line
Pull all the way forward to the “STOP” sign when it’s your turn to help traffic flow smoothly
No left turns when exiting the parking lot
Thank you for your continued cooperation and commitment to maintaining a safe and welcoming environment for our school community.
Birthday Celebrations at School
We love celebrating your children! Birthdays will continue to be recognized in fun, age‑appropriate ways during the school day so every student feels special.
Updated Birthday Policy
To keep all students safe—especially those with allergies or health concerns—we are making the following changes:
What’s Changing
- No more traditional classroom birthday parties with food or snacks.
What You Can Still Do
- Gift Bags: Store‑bought, individually wrapped items may be sent and will be handed out at the end of the day to take home.
- Invitations: Birthday party invitations may also be passed out at the end of the day.
Why the Change?
This policy ensures every child can safely join in the celebration, regardless of dietary or health needs.
Thank you for helping us keep school celebrations safe, inclusive, and special for all students. If you have any questions, please reach out!
