Turtle Time!

The green turtle team continues to care for the four endangered Northern Red Bellied Cooter turtles. This is a head start program that has the turtles grow safely for the first year of their life and then get re-introduced back into their environment to help with the population numbers.

In May, the Mass Fishing and Wildlife commission will take the turtles back and re-introduce them into their natural environment in specific ponds near and around the South Shore. Hingham Middle School is proud to have been issued a permit to raise and care for these special endangered turtles.

"Inside This" Poems in Grade Eight

Students in grade eight have been finding the beauty in the things all around them. Students were challenged to choose an object and describe it using figurative language and both concrete and abstract nouns, and we think they did an incredible job!

You may never look at a camera the same way again, after reading Madeline Towle's description of one!

A Moment In Time

Inside this camera are many things,

pictures, love, and memories.

The roll of camera film goes on and on,

full of years of love.

Passion is portrayed in each photo that is taken.

Winter, summer, spring, and fall.

It has it all.

As time goes on, so do the photos.

Words cannot describe the love the lens swallows,

smiles and sadness too.

It holds joy like a bright diamond.

The glass carries every recollection.

Every birthday, anniversary, and celebration

The camera was there.

Time after time,

year after year,

the fuller the film gets.

Inside this camera lives a world.

A world made with memories

filled with friends, family, and fun.

Frozen snapshots

of moments in time.

2026 Hingham Youth Track & Field Program

It's that time of year and we are accepting registrations for the 2026 Track & Field season!

Dating back to 2021, we have had nearly 600 middle school students participate in at least one season of the Hingham Youth Track program.

We are looking for 2-3 additional adults to help coach this program going forward. If you are interested, please email us at hinghamyouthtrack@gmail.com.

ABOUT THE PROGRAM:

Practices are held at HHS twice weekly and led by a Head Coach, parent Volunteer Coaches and a select group of HHS students who run at the high school. This is one of our favorite things about the program, because it provides a leadership opportunity for HHS athletes, as well as a chance for middle school participants to get to know some HS athletes.

During the Spring Youth Track season, participants have the opportunity to compete against athletes from other towns in various running & field events, such as . . .

  • Running events: sprints, mid and distance from 100 M run to 1 mile, relays
  • Long & High Jump
  • Throwing: Discus, Javelin and/or Shot Put
