Student Work Permit Update
Under 18 and getting a job? As of October 2, 2026, work permits are issued online through Michigan’s Youth Employment Permit Portal (YEPP). Schools no longer issue work permits.
Already have a valid school-issued permit? It will still be honored! A new YEPP permit is required if you change employers or worksites.
Visit Michigan.gov/YouthEmployment to get started.

Traver Talk
Six classes, Six teachers, Six different sets of assignments. Keeping up with high school can be a lot, especially for new parents of high schoolers or even veteran ones who have multiple students across the district. At the same time old questions “Do you have any homework?” isn't creating the conversation it once was. We want to make things easier to talk to your students about what is happening in our classrooms and how they are doing. As students get older, we want them to take more responsibility for their learning, but they still need adults checking in and helping them along the way. Here are three quick tools to reference as you work to support your student.
- Rooms: Use the Clio Schools App to stay connected with your student’s teachers. Weekly announcements are posted and you can message your teacher directly here. Setup directions are linked here.
- ParentVue: Check your student’s current grades and assignments. Download the app here. Pro Tip - have your student show you their Student Vue and walk you through all grades weekly.
- Lesson Plans: This document contains all lesson plans for all teachers in a one-stop-shop.
There is plenty to celebrate in our current academic snapshot. Nearly 60% of recorded course grades are As or Bs, and A is the most common grade at every grade level. Those grades reflect daily work: completing assignments, preparing for tests, asking questions, and sticking with something when it gets difficult. The snapshot also reminds us that some of our Mustangs need support. If your student is falling behind, now is a good time to check in with their teachers and make a plan together. There is still time to turn in missing work, build better habits, and finish the semester stronger. One option is After the Bell, offered Monday through Thursday for two hours in the Media Center. With in-district transportation provided, students have a place to stay after school, focus, and get coursework done.
Just as showing up matters, so does checking in. Thank you for checking grades, asking questions, and working with us to help your Mustang succeed. We hope to see you next week at Parent Teacher Conferences to check in together on progress as we are through the first quarter of the school year.
