6th Grade: We may have had to pivot unexpectedly, but our 6th graders had a fantastic trip to Shenandoah National Park! When an accident blocked our route up the mountain, students quickly adapted and tackled an alternative hike. They rose to the challenge, literally climbing a mountain, and a few even reached a stretch of the Appalachian Trail! They returned with great memories, and over the next couple of weeks, they will be writing personal narratives to reflect on the experience.
7th Grade: In Civics, our 7th graders have been exploring the history, functions, and bicameral structure of the Virginia General Assembly, as well as its relationship with the executive branch. To bring these concepts to life, students recently visited the Virginia State Capitol for a guided tour of the grounds filled with fascinating history and local lore. Following the trip, students applied what they learned by creating social media reels explaining the roles and responsibilities of Virginia's legislative and executive branches.
8th Grade: Our 8th graders have two exciting field trips coming up! On November 20, students will visit the VCU Rice River Center, where they will participate in hands-on field research that directly connects to their Earth Science curriculum, exploring local river ecosystems, water quality, and environmental conservation. Looking ahead, mark your calendars for December 11, when our 8th graders will head to the Science Museum of Virginia for an interactive day of discovery. Keep an eye on your ParentSquare, as permission forms and payment links will be sent out shortly!
CFI Families, please continue to reach out to Megan Parsley, CFI Coordinator (mgparsley@henrico.k12.va.us) if you have any questions or concerns.

Digital Wellness in Action!
In celebration of Digital Citizenship Week, Rolfe focused on digital wellness and the effects of too much screen time. During a special lunchtime activity, students contributed stickers for a mural with ideas on how they "Go Green and Screen Free." Over 440 students contributed ideas. The circles are representative of a moment in your life, a reference to the TED Talk by Dino Ambrosi called "The Battle for Your Time: Exposing the Costs of Social Media." Students viewed this video in Advisory and thought of ways to separate from the screen. See some images from the day below. You can also watch the eye-opening video for all ages at the following link: The Battle for Your Time

Student ID Badges
All Henrico County Public Schools students will be provided student ID cards to bring and use to school every day. These cards are designed to streamline and simplify various parts of the school day, while making school environments safer and more secure. The cards bring together a handful of processes and makes them all accessible with a quick scan or tap.
Once they receive them, please be sure that your student has their ID badges when they board the bus. ID badges are required and help to ensure safety for all students.
