Welcome back to school! We are excited to really get to know your children and build special relationships with them.

Reading / Writing

Reading / Writing

Students will build their knowledge of descriptive writing and will put that knowledge to

use in their own writing. They will examine and use those features of personal narrative

writing to compose works about their own lives and experiences.

This unit will help students discover that they are capable of personal writing and that it

can be a fun and creative way to share what they have to say about themselves. This unit

provides a supportive environment for them to begin to identify themselves as writers.

In unit 1 students will understand volume and apply understanding of multiplication to determine the volumes of rectangular prisms and figures composed of rectangular prisms.

Science / Social Studies

Science

In science, students will explore environmental challenges in the Chesapeake Bay region. They will use these challenges to develop potential solutions for the future.

Social Studies

Students will explain the purpose of the Constitution and how it established a more effective centralized government. They will also identify the three branches of government and their scopes of power and explain the federal, state, and local levels of government.
