Dear Families,
We are excited to celebrate with our students through classroom holiday parties! These special events are a wonderful opportunity for our students to enjoy festive activities and connect with their classmates.
To ensure the safety and comfort of everyone and to accommodate the physical space available in our classrooms, we must limit parent attendance to only include volunteers previously requested by Room Reps.
We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we aim to create a safe and joyful environment for our students to celebrate.
Thank you for your food and craft donations to help make this a memorable holiday season for all our students!
Warm regards,
Elizabeth Murdoch, Principal

Choice of School is Coming!
More information will be coming soon about what will be different with the Choice and Magnet process. In the meantime, follow the steps below to get ready.
Step 1: Confirm that all contact information is correct in Skyward. Important: The primary guardian’s email address and phone number in Skyward will be used to set up your access for the Choice of School and Magnet Application process in the new choice application software, Avela Apply.
- Email addresses and phone numbers can be updated in Skyward.
- You must visit the school to change guardian status or address (proof of residency is required).
Step 2: Start exploring your options for schools and magnet programs. You will be asked to list up to 6 schools or magnet programs in priority order. You will want to check qualifications for magnet programs and consider transportation before determining your final preferences.
See the Tips to Help You Choose page for resources to help you find the best fit.
What if I like my current campus?
That's great! You do not need to submit a Choice of School form.
Only students who wish to change their campus, are new to GISD or are entering kindergarten, sixth and ninth grades must make selections. Current students have the right to remain at their campuses.
What about 5th Grade CURRENT MAGNET Students?
You will STILL need to complete a Choice of School form to select up to six schools/magnet programs. If you wish for your student to continue in the Academy for Excellence Magnet in middle school. You will need to select that program as your first choice!

LUNCH VISITOR POLICY
Beginning January 2025, we will be able to accommodate six families per grade level for lunch visits. To ensure fairness and equal opportunity for all families, each family may sign up for one visit per month. Additionally, we ask that no more than four visitors attend per student, which includes younger siblings.
Due to the limited number of slots available, it is essential that you inform the school office more than 24 hours in advance if you are unable to attend your scheduled visit. This will allow us to open up the spot for another family.
Lunch with Your Students - Spring 2025
Volunteers must complete a NEW application EVERY YEAR!
You MUST complete a volunteer application to join your student on Field Trips or volunteer for activities taking place during the school day. If you do not complete the application, you will be turned away from the event.
