If we do not get enough volunteers, we will be forced to cancel the Fall Dance.

Join us at Culver's on Louise Avenue (by Home Depot) for another Discovery Dine Out night on Tuesday, October 22, 2024 from 5 PM - 8 PM. The Discovery PTO earns 10% of all sales (dine in, drive-through or carry out). We look forward to seeing you there!

The Discovery PTO would like to thank Culver’s for their generosity and partnering with us once again this school year!

Remember the Fun Run? This year we're introducing the Fun Dance! The Fun Dance fundraiser will be November 4th - November 15th. This is the PTO's largest fundraiser for the year and will support the annual budget and all events for this school year. Watch for details to come!

Mrs. Hankel's class is grateful for the classroom proposal approved by the PTO for new handheld CD players. Students in 202 use the players to listen along as they read books. Classroom proposals like this are only possible because of the wonderful support of the PTO by the Discovery community.

Each month the PTO meets to plan events and make decisions about how we can make Discovery a great community for our students and staff.

• No cost to participate or join the PTO
• Every parent and staff member at Discovery is a PTO member
• All are welcome to attend and all levels of participation welcome!
• Attending a meeting does NOT mean you are committing to anything - come check us out!

The minutes from October's meeting will be posted to our website. We hope you will join us as we support the wonderful Discovery community for our students and staff!

Monthly Meetings start at 6 PM in the library on the following Tuesdays: November 12th, December 10th, January 14th, February 11th, March 11th, April 8th, and May 13th.

In recent years, there have been elementary schools in Sioux Falls that have lost their PTO’s, and our PTO will only continue with ongoing involvement from parents. We are in desperate need of new board members for the future of PTO, and parents to get involved so we can continue to do all the wonderful things the PTO does for the school.

The bylaws of our PTO are written so that a person only serves two years on the board in the same position, but without new volunteers, the same parents are serving longer terms than what was originally intended when our PTO started. The board consists of the President, Vice President, Treasurer, and Secretary (or Co-Secretaries).

If you are interested in getting more involved with the PTO, please speak with a current board member or send us an email! The ongoing success of the PTO is only possible because of wonderful volunteers. If you have any interest in volunteering for specific events or getting involved with the board, we would love to hear from you!

The Yearbook Committee will be accepting photos throughout the year for the 2024-2025 Discovery Yearbook. If you have a photo from a classroom or school event that you would like to submit, please email discoverysfyearbook@gmail.com. Thank you!
