Dear Jaguar Families,

I hope you are doing well. I am writing to share an exciting update about one of our Specials courses for the 2026–2027 school year.

With the approval of our School Governance Council (SGC) and in collaboration with our leadership team and 4CIT teacher, we will be transitioning our current 4CIT class to a Career, Technical, and Agricultural Education (CTAE) course next year.

The CTAE course will be very similar to 4CIT. Students will continue to develop essential 21st‑century skills—including collaboration, communication, critical thinking, creativity, innovation, and technology use. In addition, CTAE provides structured learning units aligned to specific CTAE standards that reinforce grade‑level science and/or math content.

This transition also supports stronger alignment with Taylor Road Middle School and Chattahoochee High School, where CTAE pathways are offered as part of students’ academic journeys. At the elementary level, CTAE is designed to introduce students to the types of pathways they will encounter in middle and high school. Students will also receive a grade for the CTAE course, just as they do in Art, Music, P.E., and Health.

Earlier this month, the district’s CTAE Director was featured on Fulton County Schools’ Let’s Talk Schools podcast, sharing how CTAE is transforming student engagement, building real‑world skills, and preparing students for success after graduation. The episode highlights how high school CTAE students gain hands‑on experience, earn credentials, and explore high‑demand fields such as AI, cybersecurity, healthcare, and engineering.

You can listen to the episode here: https://news.fultonschools.org/lets-talk-schools/podcast-season-1

We are excited about the opportunities this shift will provide for our students!

As always, thank you for your continued partnership and support.

Wishing you a truly #AHE-mazing week!

At our school, helping every child succeed is at the heart of our work—and consistent school attendance plays a major role in that success. As part of our school’s strategic plan, we are committed to reducing chronic absenteeism (students missing 10% or more of the school year, or 18+ days). Every day of learning matters, and together we can make a strong difference.

Did You Know?

Regular attendance in elementary school greatly increases the likelihood that your child will read on grade level.
Chronic absenteeism—even when absences are excused—significantly impacts academic achievement. Students who miss 18 or more days per year often struggle to keep up with grade-level expectations.
Students who attend 90% or more of the school year are far more likely to graduate from high school on time.
Absences can also be a signal that a child is facing challenges, such as academic frustration, peer conflicts, or personal difficulties. Please know that help is available, and we are here to support your child and your family.

Thank you for partnering with us to ensure your child is present, engaged, and learning every day. When students attend regularly, they thrive!

Thank you for helping to get your students to school every day and on time!

It is time for the election of new members to our School Governance Council. The School Governance Council has both parent/guardian and teacher positions open for election. Parents or guardians of students who will be attending our school during both the 2026-2027 and 2027-2028 school years are eligible to run for the parent/guardian SGC positions.

Our School Governance Council (SGC) plays a critical role in the success of our school. The SGC works with school leadership and the community to help determine the long-term direction of the school, design innovative solutions to increase academic achievement, and serve as school ambassadors to the local community. Specifically, the School Governance Council has the following responsibilities:

• Create, approve, and monitor the implementation of the school strategic plan
• Manage the Request for Flexibility process
• Approve the annual budget recommendations and related allocations
• Participate in the hiring of the principal, in the case of a vacancy
• Provide annual feedback to the Area Superintendent on principal performance

If you are interested in running for a position on the School Governance Council, please complete and submit a Candidate Declaration Form. Forms will be available on Monday, February 2nd.

We are very excited about the work and value-add of our SGC. We hope that you will consider

running for a position! The Candidate Declaration period ends March 27th and voting will take place April 22 – April 29. In the meantime, if you would like more information about the charter system or SGC elections visit our school’s website or the Charter System Overview.
