Wolf Weekly October 5-9, 2026
Run with the Pack: Weekly News from the Wolves’ Den!
Dear Lord,
Thank you for the amazing scenery as we get into the fall season. But I ask that you keep us warm as we are getting into the cold days heading into the fall. As said in Psalm 46:1 — “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.” And please keep the homeless and the less fortunate warm. Dear lord we ask this in your name we pray.
Amen.

LIVING THE MISSION: FAITH AT THE HEART OF OUR PACK
Faith Fact Friday!
Sunday, on October 4, we celebrate the feast day of our school’s patron saint, St. Francis of Assisi! A few facts:
St. Francis was born in 1181 in Assisi, Italy. He was born into a wealthy family and lived a privileged life.
When he was young, he dreamed of being a knight and loved Medieval war heroes.
In 1202 he fought in a war between Assisi and Perugia. He was captured and was a POW for one year. Once he was released, he fell very ill. After he became better, he had a vision that he should return to Assisi and wait for a sign. After that, he dedicated his life to prayer, seeking God’s plan for him.
After the war, he encountered a Leper while riding horseback in the countryside. Before the war, Francis would not have stopped. He felt this man needed help. He went to the leper, embraced him and kissed him. Once he got back on the horse and rode away, he looked back and did not see the leper anywhere. At that moment, he knew it was Jesus who visited him.
St. Francis of Assisi is the patron saint of animals, the environment/ecology, and Italy (along with St. Catherine of Siena).
He is also the patron saint of several other groups and causes:
- Merchants
- Messengers
- Metal workers
- Archaeologists
- Catholic Action

WOLVES AT WORK: ENGAGING EVERY LEARNER
Way of the Wolf!
During the month of September St. Francis has been focusing on Be Joyous, one of our school's 4 pillars. On Friday the school participated in the Way of the Wolf festivities. One student who embodied joy was chosen from each class and was given a chance to spin the big wheel for prizes! Congratulations to those students who were selected! October's pillar is Be Loving!
CTF In Action!
Grade 8 CEFL?? Tell me more..
This school year, our Grade 8 students will also be participating in the provincial field testing of Alberta’s new Career Education and Financial Literacy curriculum. Starting in Term 2, we will run this program through CTF (options). It will serve as one of the six CTF courses for our Grade 8s this year.
Additionally, our students will participate in divisional career exploration opportunities being finalized this fall, giving them direct, practical connections to real-world career paths.
As a core learning initiative, student progress in this course will be assessed and reported using percentage grades on report cards.
To explore the draft framework and learning outcomes, please visit the Alberta Education Career Education and Financial Literacy page.

WOLF TRACKS: IMPORTANT NEWS AND UPDATES
Navigating Sign In/Out, Student Drop Off and Parking Procedures
Welcome to the start of a fantastic new school year! Whether you are joining our school community for the first time or returning for another great year, we are so excited to partner with you.
To help our mornings and afternoons run seamlessly, here is a quick guide to our daily traffic flow and attendance procedures. Thank you in advance for helping us keep our routines smooth and safe for everyone!
🚗 Drop-Off & Pick-Up Lane Guidelines
The front lane of the school is designed for quick stops to keep traffic moving:
Direction: This lane is strictly one-way—please enter from Lancaster Drive and exit onto Lindsay Avenue.
Quick Stops Only: Please do not park or leave your vehicle unattended in this lane. It must remain clear at all times for student safety and emergency vehicle access.
Alternative Areas: You are also welcome to pick up along Lancaster Drive or Lindsay Avenue. Please be mindful to keep bus lanes clear.
🚶 Sidewalks & Crosswalks
With the new school year underway, please take a moment to review walking routes with your child and anyone else who may be dropping off or picking up:
All students should use designated sidewalks and crosswalks at all times.
Please remind students not to cut through parking lots or cross streets between buses and parked cars.
🛴Scooters
Thanks to a generous donation from our Parent Council last year, we installed a new scooter/skateboard rack near the grade 7 door. This update has significantly improved safety by keeping entryways clear. Moving forward, scooters and skateboards will no longer be stored inside the building. We ask that parents provide a lock so students can safely secure their scooters at the outdoor rack.
🛑 Staff Parking Lot (Back of School)
Please remember that the parking lot at the back of the school is strictly reserved for staff members, as every stall is individually assigned. To ensure staff can arrive and depart on schedule, please avoid entering or parking in this lot at any time.
📝 Office Procedures: Leaving School During the Day
If your child needs to leave school early for lunch or an appointment:
No Need to Call Ahead: Simply arrive a few minutes early and come into the office to sign your child out using the Student Sign In/Out Computer. For safety reasons, our staff must see the person picking up the student in person.
Wait in Your Vehicle: After signing out, you may return to your car while we call your child to the office. This helps respect student privacy and keeps the office area clear.
A Quick Note on Timing: Please be patient while waiting! Students may be in PE, shop class, or outside, so it can take a few extra minutes for them to receive the message.
⏰ Arriving Late or Returning
Students arriving late or returning from an appointment should check in at the office using their Student ID or the Sign In/Out Computer.
Parents do not need to accompany their child into the office for late arrivals.
📞 Pick-Up by Someone Else
If someone other than a parent or guardian will be picking up your child, please call the office directly or email the attendance line with their full name and phone number.
Please do not leave this information on voicemail, as messages may not be checked in time for dismissal.
We greatly appreciate your support and cooperation in following these procedures. Working together, we can make every day smooth, efficient, and welcoming for our entire school family!

If you have ever thought about getting involved, now is the perfect time! Whether you are interested in head coaching, assisting, or helping with a specific sport, we would love to hear from you.
