PTO News from President Krysti Lloyd: Mark Your Calendars

Hello Weller families! I hope your first few days back at school have been off to a fantastic start.

I'm Krysti Lloyd, the Steuart Weller Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO) president. My husband Kevin and I have four daughters: Brooklynn (4th), Kendall (2nd), Harper (1st), and Georgia (17 months). I'm so excited for the opportunity to become more involved with the Weller community this year!

I know there have been a lot of changes on the Weller staff and there are also a lot of new faces on the PTO. Our goal is the same, though, to work together to support staff and build connections among families.

  • Help parents feel connected and plugged in to their child's school.
  • Help families build connections with teachers and among each other.
  • Support teachers in whatever way is helpful -- Amazon lists, parent volunteers, etc.
  • Support special projects, i.e. field trips, classroom supplies, special speakers (author, musician, etc.), academic enrichment, technology, playground improvements, etc.

As we plan meetings and events for the coming year, we want these goals to root our activities. We'd love to see all families and teachers attend PTO meetings and events. These will be great opportunities for parents to get to know the Weller staff, meet other families, and learn about what is happening in school.

We have many ways to volunteer with the PTO. Some are ongoing roles and others are one-time commitments. Please fill out this quick form to share your interest!

Meet SWES School Administration!

Dear Weller Families:

If you have not had a chance to meet our new administrative team, I would like to introduce Mrs. Benson (Dean) and Ms. Trinidad, (Assistant Principal). While this is our first year working together as one unit, we bring a variety of experiences and expertise. Mrs. Benson was an Assistant Principal and an Elementary teacher in California before coming to Loudoun County. She has most recently served with LCPS Special Education Department as a behavioral specialist. Ms. Trinidad was an Assistant Principal at Balls' Bluff Elementary for 14 years and prior to that she taught not only in Loudoun County but also in the US Virgin Islands where she was raised. I began working at SWES in 2016. I am a transplant from Iowa. (Go Hawks!) Prior to being a principal here, I was the director of gifted education for the Des Moines Public Schools, a school principal in Iowa and in Maryland. Our varied experiences bring unique perspectives, but we have the same commitment: Provide a high quality learning and teaching environment to meet the needs of all children.

Our goal is to serve the Weller students and families. We are eager to get to know all of our students and you, as well. Please do not hesitate to contact us.

Each newsletter will feature our staff members. In the next issue, you will meet the mighty 10 on the kindergarten team!

Health Clinic Information

WELCOME WILD CATS!

With the start of the 2025/2026 school year, I wanted to introduce myself and send out some information from the Health Office. My name is Sabrina Evangelisti. This will be my fifth year as the nurse for Steuart Weller. Besides being a school nurse, I also work at an ER. I look forward to seeing all the returning Wild Cats, as well as meeting those Wild Cats that are new to Steuart Weller this year!

Please review the following tidbits from the LCPS medication policy:

  • A student is not allowed to carry medication (including over-the-counter) to and from school. All medication must be stored in the clinic and dropped off/picked up by a parent/guardian.
  • All over-the-counter medication stored in the clinic must be supplied in its original packaging.
  • All prescription medication stored in the clinic must be supplied in its original packaging with a prescription label attached in the students name. In order for a prescription medication to be administered during school hours, a physician must complete the Authorization for Medication Administration form.
  • Cough drops are considered a medication. If you wish for your child to have cough drops available for use during school hours, please drop them off in the clinic.

If there have been any new changes in your child’s medical history, please send an email to sabrina.evangelisti@lcps.org so that I can update any allergies, medical problems, medications, etc.

Any dietary requests need to go through the clinic. If you wish for your child to have any dietary restrictions (such as no pork due to religious reasons or no gluten due to intolerance), please send an email to sabrina.evangelisti@lcps.org so that I can update the child’s health file. Once I update this information, the cafeteria staff will be able to see any dietary restrictions.

If your child is absent from school for three days or more, a doctor's note is required for the absence to be excused.

As we approach flu and cold season, I wanted to remind you that a temperature greater to or equal to 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit is considered a fever. If your child has a fever, they will not be able to attend or remain in school. A student must be fever free for at least 24 hours (without the use of any antipyretics such as Tylenol/Motrin) before returning to school.
