It's about that time of year.....Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week! It's May 4 - May 8, 2026. Our PTO has an action packed week to support the staff, and your support is appreciated! Click this link to be a sponsor for that week!

As the end of the school year approaches, we want to share that North Buncombe Middle does not hold a formal 8th grade promotion or graduation ceremony. However, we are excited to celebrate our students in meaningful and fun ways! After testing is complete, all 8th graders will enjoy a special picnic day filled with a cookout, games, and treats—a time to relax and make lasting memories together. In addition, we will host an 8th grade awards program to recognize student accomplishments, including honor roll, citizenship, subject-area awards, athletic honors, and other Hawks Awards. We look forward to celebrating this outstanding group of students!

For any rising freshman at North Buncombe High School, the 2026-2027 North Buncombe FFA Chapter Officer Applications are due Friday, May 1. Email NBHS FFA Advisor, Justin Gillespie, if you have questions.

Beginning May 4, students may sign up with friends to create a team for competition in our annual Kickball Tournament, sponsored by Student Council.

Attendance make-up opportunities are now available for students who have exceeded the allowable number of absences. Students are permitted up to 18 absences per school year. Any absences beyond 18 (whether excused or unexcused) must be made up.

Please note: There will be no summer school option this year, so all attendance make-up must be completed during the regular school year.

Attendance Make-Up Options:

Wednesday mornings (before school): 6:30–7:30 AM
After school (Monday–Thursday): 3:00–4:15 PM
After-school bus: Available Thursdays only
Community Nights: Students may also attend to earn make-up time

We encourage families to begin planning now to ensure all required hours are completed.
