Principal's Update
Dear CCES Families,
What a fantastic first week of school we have had at CCES! It has been such a joy to see our halls filled with smiling faces, eager learners, and supportive families. Thank you for your patience and partnership as we worked through first-week procedures, including carpool, walkers, and ensuring our bus riders arrived home safely each day. The first few days always come with a learning curve, and we appreciate everyone's flexibility as we fine-tune our routines.
This week, our students also practiced all four required safety drills. I am proud to share that our Colts did a fabulous job following directions, staying focused, and demonstrating responsibility throughout each drill. Practicing these procedures helps us ensure a safe and secure learning environment for everyone.
Today, we also enjoyed a wonderful First Walk to School Day at CCES! It was so much fun seeing so many of our families come together to start the day, and I especially loved meeting the pups who joined us for the walk. Thank you to everyone who participated and helped make it such a special community event.
As we look ahead to next week, we are excited to welcome families back for Curriculum Night. This is a great opportunity to learn more about your child's classroom, curriculum, and year ahead. Please be sure to check the flyer below for grade-level dates, times, and additional information.
Thank you again for helping us make the start of this school year such a success. We look forward to another great week of learning and growing together!
Proud to be a Colt!
Working Together,
Laura Butler

Walking Students
Thank you to all of our families for helping make the first days of school so special. We have now wrapped up our parent walk-in period, and beginning Monday, students will begin entering the building independently.
Please know that we will have plenty of staff members throughout the building ready to welcome and assist our students, especially our youngest Colts. Team members will be stationed in key locations to help guide students to their classrooms and ensure they arrive safely and confidently each morning.

2026-2027 Directory Information Opt-Out Form (FERPA)
As we begin the new school year, we would like to remind families about the FERPA Opt-Out process.
If you wish to restrict the release of your child's directory information, you must complete and submit a signed FERPA Opt-Out form each school year. Any FERPA Opt-Out status from the previous school year has been removed and must be renewed annually.
Please note:
· A new signed Opt-Out form is required every school year.
· Forms must be submitted within the first 10 days of school.
· The Opt-Out form allows parents to restrict the release of directory information while still permitting their child's photo to be included in the school yearbook, if desired.
If you would like to continue or establish a FERPA Opt-Out for your child, please the form below by Friday, August 14, 2026

Amira ISIP Assess
What is the purpose of Amira ISIP Assess?
Amira ISIP Assess is a computer adaptive test that measures students’ foundational reading skills and tracks their progress. It gives teachers real-time data to identify strengths, target areas for growth, and support personalized reading instruction. Amira is also the state-approved dyslexia screener used in Fulton County Schools, per Georgia's Early Literacy and Dyslexia Act (HB307).
Who takes Amira ISIP Assess?
Per Georgia's Early Literacy and Dyslexia Act, all students in grades K-3 are required to take Amira ISIP Assess three times a year.
When is Amira ISIP Assessment given?
Amira ISIP Assess is given to students in grades K-3 three times a year (BOY, MOY, and EOY). Crabapple Crossing ES will begin administering this assessment the week of August 17.
iReady Fall Diagnostics
All Kindergarten through Fifth grade students will be taking the Fall iReady Diagnostic for both Reading and Math starting the second week of school. Our Kindergarten - 5th grade students will be doing iReady Reading Monday and Tuesday, August 10th -11th and Math Wednesday and Thursday, August 12th –13th. We will be encouraging students to take their time and show us everything that they already know! Please ensure students are present and arrive on time during the iReady window. We will be starting iReady every morning at 8:00AM, except for 3rd - 5th grade who have a content block in the afternoon.
The iReady Reading and Math Diagnostic assessment is one of the data points we use when conducting the Continuous Achievement review process, EIP (Early Intervention program) screening, and TAG (Talented and Gifted) screening. So, please encourage your child to take their time and do their best!
If you have any questions about the iReady Diagnostic or how the scores and data are used, please reach out to Ms. Havens, CST at havens@fultonschools.org
