Principal's Message
Hello,
I want to start by thanking all the staff at Decatur High School for making graduation for the Class of 2026 memorable, with a special shout-out to Mr. Hatfield for reading nearly 500 names. We are taking in all feedback from families to improve the process next year. Congratulations again to the largest class in DHS history, the Class of 2026.
I was invited by Ms. Glenn to speak at the Capstone Ceremony for Beacon Hill Middle Schoolโs 8th-grade class. It was a challenge to follow Mr. Derrick Thomas, former Beacon Hill Middle School principal, as he offered inspirational words, but it was my honor to speak to the Class of 2030 as they are ready to walk into DHS in August 2026.
I am excited to lead DHS into the 2026-27 school year, which will be my 30th year in education. I am looking forward to seeing everyone in August.
Sincerely,
Duane Sprull Ed.D.

DHS Student Wins Third in the Nation for Mock Trial! ๐
Our very own Molly White (Class of '27) just proved herself on the national stage! After dominating the Georgia State Championship, Molly traveled to Des Moines, Iowa, from May 7โ9, 2026, where her artwork took home third place in the Courtroom Artist Contest at the National High School Mock Trial Competition. We are incredibly proud of her hard work and dedication.
Chromebook for the June 6 SAT
If your student needs a device for the June 6 SAT, they can reserve a loaner Chromebook now! Because all student devices are collected for summer cleaning and updates at the end of the school year, a reserved loaner is required for this test date. Students must use their CSD email to complete the reservation form. Please remember that all loaners must be returned to the DHS Bus Loop on Monday, June 8, between 9:00 AM and 12:00 PM to avoid a $310 replacement fee.

End-of-Year Medication Pick Up Information
Please pick up your child's medication from the school clinic by the last day of school, Friday, May 22. To adhere to safety guidelines, schools are unable to store any medications during the summer break. Therefore, any medication left behind will be discarded. Kindly remember that students are not permitted to carry their own medication home.
Class of 2026 PACKalaureate
Last week the DHS PTSA hosted the DHS Class of 2026 PACKalaureate (formerly Baccalaureate). This event honored and celebrated our seniors and the ways they have demonstrated PACK values throughout their highschool experience.
Special thanks to the DHS PTSA SGA Engagement Chair Utoia Wooten, DHS SGA leadership team member Payton Sobon, DHS PTSA senior intern Hannah Eastham, and DHS senior speakers Campbell Gervin, Mila Martinez-Garreston, Victor Ciro Ogolory, Isadora Rasnik-Stryker, Gerald Winkler, Maddy Yoo, and Liora Yustein, and guest speaker Pastor Sarah Lewis.
Thank you also to our DHS families and community for supporting our amazing DHS students!
Celebrating Our Graduates and the Teachers Who Helped Them Shine
As we honor our recent graduates, we also pause to recognize the remarkable teachers who guided, encouraged, and inspired them along the way. Their dedication has played a vital role in helping our students reach this important milestone.
This year, we are especially proud to celebrate Kristen Embry, our Decatur High School Teacher of the Year. Her commitment to excellence and her impact on students exemplify the very best of our school community.
We also extend our gratitude to our corporate partner ChickโfilโA for generously sponsoring the Teacher of the Year gift basket. ChickโfilโA continues to be a steadfast supporter of Decatur High School and the broader City of Decatur community, and we deeply appreciate their ongoing partnership.
PTSA 2026 - 2027
