Every Child, Every Day. Every Child, Every Day.

Another amazing week is in the books! It was all hands on deck as we worked to get our students through NWEA testing without raising student stress levels. Your grade-level leaders participated in new learning surrounding NWEA reports this week at DLT. They will be sharing what they learned at your next late-start meeting. This is an exciting time as we dig deeper and find ways to drill down and identify learner needs. Additionally, we have more tools to help us with targeted practice. Together, we are rocking it for our students!

Lincoln News

💙 This week I want to give a special shout-out to all of our LRE aides who assist our students each day. We could not do every day without them. Not only do our students benefit immensely, but so do ALL of our staff! Thank you, Jen, Jenni, Jasmine, Grace, and Daniel! You all do AMAZING work and we thank you!

💛 Our Spelling Bee was a suspenseful one! Jo-Anne once again did a wonderful job preparing our students for a tough competition. We are so proud of all of our students that put in so much hard work and conquered fears to be on stage in front of the school.

💙 I received a wonderful email from a set of grandparents that attended the Lincoln Spelling Bee. They wanted to thank the staff for all we do as they were amazed at how wonderfully behaved the students were at the assembly. What a nice celebration!

💛 Thank you to everyone that worked so hard to get our NWEA tests completed by the close of today. That teamwork was AMAZING!

Celebrate World Read Aloud Day on February 1st!

Wednesday, February 1 is World Read Aloud Day! For 13 years, and in over 173 countries, World Read Aloud Day has called attention to the importance of sharing stories by challenging participants to grab a book, find an audience and read aloud! This year, it is our hope that all of our students can participate in this fun event and are asking for your commitment to participate in at least 1 read aloud with your class. Want something EXTRA fun to read? Below you will find some resources to enjoy with your class!

Please have your students wear Bear Wear in celebration of World Read Aloud Day on Wednesday February 1.

Resources:

1. On February 1st, join your favorite children’s book creators as they read, draw, and interact live with classrooms and families around the globe. CLICK HERE for the full live show schedule as well as instructions on how to participate.

2. THIS is a class meeting game called "Story in the Round" that you can use with your class.

3. You will receive a pack of bookmarks to give out to each of your students on February 1; they can decorate them if they would like to.

4. Please drop photos of your students HERE so we can share in their excitement!

5. If you would like us to pull a book for you to read aloud to your class, please let us know.

Happy Reading,

Julia and Sarah

ADHD Screening--Conners Rating Scale

In the past, parents have often sought our help when trying to determine if their student may have ADHD. Moving forward, we are no longer able to offer the Conners Rating Scales to families. If parents mention ADHD, please let them know that this is a medical diagnosis and they will need to consult a doctor for diagnosis. Please know that it is perfectly fine for you to complete a Conners Rating Scale if medically initiated from a doctor..

Tips, Tricks, and Tools for Learning Tips, Tricks, and Tools for Learning

The blog is short this week so I'm hoping you can take some time to watch the video posted below. The video lasts 11 minutes and is definitely worth the short time it takes to watch it. Thinking about this through the eyes of our students is a great reminder that we all need less stress in our lives. This is a great way that we can help ourselves and our students.
