Coach's corner
"David's View"
It’s time to “RE”
Review, reconnect, renew, refresh, revitalize, refocus, restart and recommit are words that come to mind as we start the 2023-24 season.
The coaching staff have felt the energy that is generated when we are in the “RE” season and hope you all have as well. It’s a great place to be!
This is a great time to REmind swimmers that they are part of something greater than themselves and something very special. While we are a very large team, we are one, we are strong and we are stronger together as one! Especially when we take advantage of the “RE” season!
How can you do that?
Let’s RE-focus our understanding and appreciation on the fact that having patience will reap the best REwards. Athletes often worry so much about where they want to end up that they lose track of the day-to-day things they need to do to get there. Stick to the path for success provided by your coach, one mindful step and one at a time, and your skills will naturally REspond and grow and your talent will REveal itself.
Excellence does not happen overnight or in a sudden flash. It must be properly and consistently nurtured. By REconnecting with your coach and REnewing your goals you can set yourself on the long-term path for success.
This is also the best time to REkindle the parent, coach and swimmer RElationship. Consistent and regular communications ensure that RElationships can grow and help each party understand their role and REsponsibilities in REalizing their swimmers goals. Our group meetings last weekend and this weekend have begun to highlight how important staying in touch will be throughout the season. So be sure to do your part: RE-check the website, RE-read those emails and REach out when you have something going on. And the coaching staff will do theirs in sharing information and being REsponsive to inquiries.
It is extremely important that we RE-commit to lifting up those around us every day so that we may REflect our team’s core values. Treating each other with love, care and respect the way you would want to be treated. Being the best teammate you can possibly be. Working hard, having fun, encouraging, supporting, cheering loudly, being humble in victory and gracious in defeat and REmembering that you are the most important part in helping us create a positive team culture!
REcognize that we rise by lifting others.
Let’s use the “RE” season to set us on the road to being the best team in the country in the water and out!
