Jarrell ISDMonday MemoAugust 18, 2025

Cougar Family,

As we begin a new school year, we would like to take a moment to share important information about our students’ performance on the most recent STAAR assessments and what this means for future progress.

The STAAR test is one of many tools we use to measure student learning and academic progress. While it provides valuable data, it is only one snapshot of a student’s educational journey. We are proud of the hard work our students and teachers put into preparing for these assessments, and we are equally proud of the growth we continue to see across our campuses.

Jarrell ISD continues to earn an “A” rating in College, Career and Military Readiness (CCMR)! This exceptional score reflects our unwavering commitment to preparing students for life beyond high school—whether they choose to attend college, enter the workforce, or serve our country through military service. A score of 93 places us well above the state average and is a testament to the collaborative effort of our students, educators, counselors, support staff, and families. Earlier this year, Governor Abbott recognized Jarrell ISD. In addition, we were named a District of Distinction for our Career and Technical Education Program.

Why This Matters:

  • Student Readiness: A CCMR score of 93 means that the vast majority of our students graduated with at least one indicator of post-secondary readiness, such as dual credit completion, career and technical certifications, military enlistment, or college entrance exam success.

  • Accountability Rating Impact: CCMR is a significant component of the Texas Education Agency’s accountability system. A strong CCMR score directly contributes to our overall academic performance rating and school grade.

We celebrate this achievement with pride and gratitude! It is important to note, however, due to a data reporting omission, the current results released by the state do not include college prep data — a critical component of CCMR that significantly impacts our accountability rating. Because of this data reporting omission, JISD earned a 93, according to TEA, but was credited with a 79. We are working in partnership with TEA to complete the appeal process.

In addition to our favorable CCMR score, Student Achievement and School Progress have remained steady. These results reflect the dedication of our educators, the resilience of our students, and the support of our families and community.

Thank you for your continued partnership in helping every student succeed. Together, we are building a strong future for Jarrell ISD.
