SHADOWS ARE FALLING
BOOK 3
WINTER 2025
Late in the evening on November 18th, 1982, in the quiet town of Fishbone, Montana, a ten-year-ola boy is slaughtered in his bedroom. Just down the hall, his older sister moves through the house, unaware of the horror unfolding only feet away.
The nature of his death defies explanation-neither entirely human nor animal.
Hundreds of miles away in New England, Dr. Robert Qiu, a brilliant but haunted medical examiner, wears the dead like a second skin. Witness, to a brutal double homicide years earlier, the memory shadows him still.
After the boy's gruesome murder plunges Fishbone into panic, Sheriff Peter Stubbe severs ties with the local coroner and calls in Dr. Qiu, believing only he can uncover the truth.
As Robert arrives in the frozen, neon-lit streets of this remote town, he finds himself drawn into something far darker than he imagined. At the heart of Fishbone, a malevolent force is stirring. Some ghosts, he learns, refuse to stay buried.
What waits in the shadows-man, beast, or something far worse?
Will Dr. Qiu solve the mystery before another victim is taken? Or will he become just another casualty in this chilling tale of terror?

Re-Releasing Break My Bones: COMING SOON — (Shooting for Late August) Now with Extra Bite (and an Audiobook!)
Wrote this wicked little tale nearly a decade ago, back when I thought “editing” was a myth and my plot twists could bench-press a truck. Since then, both my writing and I have hit the gym — and Break
My Bones is finally getting the polish it deserves.
This deliciously twisted story is getting a fresh coat of blood... I mean, paint... before it heads to audio. Yes, your ears are next.
Stay tuned for a cleaner, meaner, and fully narrated version of the book that started it all.
A secret never to be shared.
A killer seeking vengeance.
Is his nightmarish fiction about to become a bloody reality?
Michael Kerrigan is delighted with his success. With his well-received suspense novels putting him on the map, the popular author trades his dark past for meet and greets with adoring fans. But his borrowed peace shatters when a friend he thought he’d buried dead in the ground long ago shows up very much alive… and hellbent on wreaking murderous havoc.
Trapped in a deadly game of cat and mouse, Michael works furiously to uncover the shocking truth while dodging his assailant’s ruthless attacks. And with his sanity splintering as he processes years of suppressed guilt, sacrificing himself may be the only way to protect his loved ones from a crazed enemy’s relentless carnage.
Can Michael undo the sins of yesteryear before he’s the one thrown into a grave?
The Case Of John Bulwar And The Screaming Spirit
TRIGGER WARNING
It was the fall of ’84. Four teenagers, full of big-city dreams and cheap gas, set out toward Minneapolis to see Prince in all his purple glory. The youngest was John Bulwar—sixteen, a kind and boisterous boy—riding up front days after Christmas. Somewhere out on a back road, where the fields roll black under the stars, the driver hit a patch of gravel and the car began to slide. They served and slammed into an oak tree.
The others walked away, shaking and with minor injuries. John didn’t. His neck snapped clean.
By all accounts, that should’ve been the end. Just another sad story with flowers left on the roadside.
But weeks later, when the county police got around to developing the film from the crash scene, one picture came back… wrong.
Above the wreck, in the dull wash of the flashbulb, something hung in the air. A face—twisted and stretched, mouth wide in a scream you couldn’t hear. And the face… it was John. Every detail, from the tangle of his hair to the slope of his cheek. The photograph made the rounds quick. Folks started calling it The Screaming Spirit.
No one could explain it. Wasn’t dust. Wasn’t light. Wasn’t the camera. No double exposure, no trick. Just John, caught between here and wherever comes next.
Some swore they saw more in the picture—a faint shadow behind him, shaped like a small dog, tail raised as if it was glad to see him. Some said his eyes weren’t angry, just wide and startled, like a boy hearing bad news for the first time. And if you stared long enough at the print, you’d swear his mouth began to move. Not much, just enough to shape the words: What’s happening?
As for the dog, John had a Labrador that had passed away earlier that same year. A psychic claimed the dog had been sent to meet John and accompany him into the afterlife.
Even now, the photo rests in an evidence box in the county archives. The paper’s yellowed, the ink faded, but John—eyes wailing and mouth wide, waiting—hasn't changed a bit. And if you catch them in the right light, you might just hear him screaming .
A famous mystery writer survives a brutal assault on a dark New England road and plots violent revenge against her attacker. Also a Lifetime original movie.
Stephen King’s Big Driver is a taut, merciless revenge story that begins with a simple detour and ends in blood. Mystery writer Tess Thorne, fresh from a small-town book signing, follows a shortcut suggested by her event host. On a desolate New England road, her tire blows out—then a man in a pickup stops, not to help, but to brutalize her and leave her for dead.
Tess survives, crawling back to the world she thought she knew, but something inside her has shifted. She hunts for her attacker with the same precision she uses to plot her novels, piecing together clues, tracing his habits, and walking willingly into the shadows he haunts. Along the way, she meets an even stranger adversary: the cold, calculated self she never knew she possessed, capable of cruelty equal to his own.
Fast, grim, and disturbingly cathartic, Big Driver is King at his most unforgiving—a roadside horror where justice comes with a serrated edge. Debut in the Novel Full Dark, No Stars.
AS A WRITER YOU HAVE TO UNDERSTAND HUMAN NATURE
SERIAL KILLER SPOTLIGHT
HAROLD SHIPMAN
Dr. Death. AKA The Angel of Death
Did UK’s biggest serial killer Harold Shipman get away with murder because we don’t care about the elderly? Sad But True... I Believe.
- A British doctor, Shipman is believed to have killed over 200 patients between 1975 and 1998.
- He used lethal doses of painkillers, exploiting his position of trust.
Harold Shipman, infamously known as “Dr. Death,” was a well-respected British family doctor whose quiet demeanor and reassuring presence concealed one of the most chilling killing sprees in modern history. Over the course of decades, Shipman exploited the trust of his elderly patients—mostly women—by administering lethal doses of morphine, often under the guise of compassionate care.
To families, he was the kind, attentive GP who made house calls and showed concern. In reality, he was methodically ending lives, sometimes forging wills to benefit himself, and leaving behind a trail of “natural deaths” that went unquestioned for years. His medical authority gave him the perfect cover, allowing him to prey in plain sight while colleagues and coroners overlooked the mounting body count.
On 31 January 2000, Shipman was convicted of murdering 15 patients under his care. He was sentenced to life imprisonment.
On 13 January 2004, one day before his 58th birthday, Shipman hanged himself in his cell at HM Prison Wakefield, West Yorkshire. An investigation revealed the horrifying scale of his crimes—over 200 murders—making him one of the most prolific serial killers in history. Shipman’s betrayal of his profession remains a grim warning: the most dangerous predators are often those we trust the most.

🚨 Attention fellow horror nerds and literary thrill-seekers! 🚨
After approximately 15 years of being a card-carrying Joe Hill groupie (seriously, where is my card?), the moment I've been waiting for is finally happening…
📚💀 JOE. HILL. IS. COMING. TO. Coolidge Corner Theatre. 💀📚
November 19th — mark it, highlight it, tattoo it on your calendar.
I’ll be there with bated breath, probably clutching my worn-out copy of King Sorrow like it’s a sacred artifact. Will I cry? Probably. Will I awkwardly blurt out “YOU'RE AMAZING I LOVE YOU” before melting into a puddle of fangirl goo? I’ve done it before…
If you see someone outside the store two hours early, pacing, caffeinated, and muttering quotes from Horns… that’s me. Come say hi.
Let the countdown begin. 🔥🖊️👻
