Students running toward the school for the 1st day? Perhaps! Nah. Our Blue Devil Cross Country season is in full stride, taking on another season.
Mrs. Egal's Literature 8 students had time for a quick debate before this week's assembly.
Mrs. Fratini's students planted vegetables and flowers from seeds.
Thank you to our BAEC families for taking the opportunity to visit the school and locate the newly assigned homerooms. It certainly helped create a smooth week of school.
M & M siblings Mason and Samantha brightened the first week at BAEC-Candy Land with their smiles.
The marigold, pumpkin and sunflower seeds that Austin planted last year have really taken off!
Welcome to our newest teachers, Miss Patterson (left), Miss Shergi (top right) and Mrs. Baker (bottom right). All three are assigned to kindergarten classes and if the first week of school is any indication, their students are in excellent hands.
It may not take much to get middle school students to be loud, but getting everyone clapping to the same beat can be difficult. Motivational entertainer Elec Simon provided the rhythm and the students provided the beat.
Ms. Zupancic's Honors English 9 class working on their Daily "Daily Digest," a daily journaling activity, and sharing their responses on the board.
Debate in math class? Don't mind if I do! Ms. Wolos' honors pre-calculus students worked together to sort real numbers in class this week to review vocabulary.
Mrs. Spitak's 5th grade ELA students participated in a "Book Tasting" to expose students to a variety of Genres.
Teachers make learning sweeter at BAEC-Candy Land
Ms. Wolos' math 7 and pre-calculus students started the year with an activity called the 100#s task. This helped creat a discussion on what good teamwork looks like for future activities throughout the year!
Elec Simon was not the only "celebrity" at the assembly. We think our students were as well, as they were called off of the bleachers at random to participate to the beat of his message. If you look closely, you will see none other then Mr. Fadden in the middle of it all!
Our school days would not start and end as well as they do without the dedication of Mrs. Slay and "her" drivers! Thank you to our entire transportation department (those pictured here, the many other drivers, and Jason, our mechanic) for keeping our students safe!
Mrs. Spitak's students are excited about free reading after participating in her Book Tasting lesson.
Students jumped right in to reading in Mrs. Spitak's ELA class.
The elementary, middle and high school students all took part in an assembly this week by "Motivational Entertainer" Elec Simon.
Elec Simon shared personal accounts from his life as he encouraged positivity.
Motivational entertainer Elec Simon's enthusiasm is contageous! His message was an important one as well: "Peace, Unity, Love"
Thank you Card My Yard for creating the welcoming display for our elementary students on the first day of school.
A reminder...
We remind students, employees, parents, guardians, and community members that smoking, the possession or use of alcohol or other drugs, and the possession of weapons on school grounds, including outdoor athletic areas, by any individual, is prohibited. These acts are subject to police action and must also be reported to the Department of Education.
IT IS ILLEGAL TO ENTER A SCHOOL BUS WITHOUT AUTHORIZATION
Student and employee safety is extremely important to us. We are constantly looking for ways to make our schools, school grounds, and property safe for all. Recently, we ordered signage that will be placed on all of our school busses, warning that unauthorized boarding will be subject to criminal prosecution. This is not something new, it is simply something we are creating a greater awareness of.
According to the Pennsylvania Crimes Code:
ยง 5517. Unauthorized school bus entry. (a) Offense defined.--A person who enters a school bus without prior authorization of the driver or a school official with intent to commit a crime or disrupt or interfere with the driver or a person who enters a school bus without prior authorization of the driver or a school official who refuses to disembark after being ordered to do so by the driver commits a misdemeanor of the third degree. (b) Notice.--A school district may place a notice at the entrance of the school bus that warns against unauthorized entry.
Buildings and Grounds Concern Form
Our school district prides itself on providing the best possible learning environment for our students, and school buildings and other facilities that can be a source of pride for the community. We are constantly monitoring the conditions of our schools, athletic complexes and other district-owned property but sometimes we miss things. You can help us by completing this form when you notice something that you think needs our attention. It can be something as basic as noticing that there is a light out in our parking areas, or that the trash receptacles at the baseball field need emptied. Just like you have for your home, we have a running list of items that need our attention. These items get prioritized and acted upon. We may already know about the issue you raise, but if we don't, we can't prioritize it until we do. We are all in this together and your input is greatly appreciated.
