Welcome to the BHS Express
A newsletter keeping you informed about Batavia High School
Hello Bulldog Families.
A school building without kids does not feel the same, so we were excited to welcome everyone back on Thursday! The first two days of school were about figuring out where to go and how to work through the schedules, so we are looking forward to a full week beginning on Monday.
Please note that we will be on Flex A and Flex B schedules on August 27th and August 28th to administer the Restart/Readiness Assessments. In high school, one way students meet graduation requirements is through state assessments, so we use the Restart/Readiness Assessments to determine where our students are in their learning at the beginning of the school year.
These adjusted schedules were reviewed with your students this week. You may also click on the links below to see what a “Flex Schedule” looks like at BHS. We use this alternate schedule to set up longer instructional times to administer assessments, or to work on other important concepts that require longer class periods. We always review this with our students and families so that everyone is prepared for these adjustments.
We hope you all have a great weekend, and we look forward to welcoming your students back on Monday.
In service to our Bulldogs.

Hi, Bulldog Families.
Today, we had our class meetings to review our culture and expectations. As you may guess, our new cell phone policy was a hot topic of discussion. Throughout the first two days, our students have done a fantastic job following this new policy.
Within our message, we discussed utilizing emails when students need to contact their parents/guardian. Of course, if there is something immediate or an emergency, students will have access to a school phone in the main office.
One other message we shared is how we feel it is important for the adults to model this behavior. At first, I was hesitant about this new policy, but I have personally found it to be refreshing. Students seem to be interacting more with one another.
Have a great weekend.

All high school drop offs are to enter from Old SR 32 and stay on the main route, Bulldog Place. Pull through the cross walk and up to the designated pole to drop off students. Students will not be permitted to enter the building until 7:05 a.m. If families are dropping off both a high school and middle school student, you may drop off both students in front of the high school and the middle school students will be safely crossed by a staff member. Aftertoon pick ups may park in the parking lot between the high school crosswalk and the board office at 4 Bulldog. Families will be able to exit the lot near the board office and turn right onto the main Bulldog Place main route.
