Hardy Happenings
April 6, 2026

Dear Hardy Families,
As we head into the final eight-week stretch of the school year, we are focused on finishing strong. We have a busy and exciting season ahead with field trips, PTA-sponsored events like Lab Rats next Monday and Tuesday, an interactive science assembly, and an upcoming BMX assembly for students.
I also want to share that I will be in surgery tomorrow morning and expect to be out for the next 2–3 weeks while I recover. Hardy will be in great hands with our incredible staff and Mr. Don Craig, a retired veteran principal serving as admin designee during my absence.
Please also remember to complete your child’s re-registration for next school year if you have not already done so. Your timely response helps us plan for staffing and classes.
Thank you for your continued support,
With Gratitude
Principal Aragon

HARDY INFORMATION
Volunteers in Action
We are deeply grateful for our volunteer reading tutors, whose impact has been transformational. Just a few years ago, more than half of Hardy students were not reading at grade level. This community didn’t accept that—they rolled up their sleeves and got to work.
Volunteers now lead about 45 sessions each week, on track for nearly 1,000 this year, helping students beyond their own child’s classroom. They believe that when every child succeeds, the whole school thrives.
Special thanks to Alexis Hedgecock, Helen Shao, Annie Alwine, Allie Grooms-Machi, and Jenny Smith for their leadership in making this program possible.
Eligibility for End of the Year Activities
As the school year comes to a close, teachers and families across all grade levels are planning special end-of-year activities to celebrate our students and their hard work. Participation in these events is a privilege, and students must remain in good standing in citizenship to take part. All Hardy students are expected to uphold our SOAR values by being Synergized, Optimistic, Accountable, and Respectful. Eligibility for end-of-year activities will be based on behavior, at least 90% attendance, and consistent on-time arrival. For our 5th graders, this expectation is especially important as it also applies to promotion and other 5th-grade celebration activities. Students who do not meet these expectations may be excluded from one or more end-of-year events at the discretion of the teachers and principal.
Volunteer Reminder
It’s field trip season! At the beginning of the year, we shared the requirements for becoming a cleared volunteer. If you are planning to attend a field trip or volunteer on campus and are unsure whether all of your paperwork has been completed and approved, please reach out to the Hardy front office. We’re happy to check your status and let you know if you are fully cleared.
Spring Picture Day
Please save the date for Spring Pictures, and 5th grade promotion photos on April 10.
