PE in 4th Grade

4th graders finished up their volleyball unit with 2 v 2 games working on a forearm pass or underhand strike with one hand. These games allow the ball to bounce one time on their side prior to striking the ball. Students showed great sportsmanship throughout our game play. They will be moving into a basketball unit with an emphasis on shooting and passing during our game play activities.

Library in 4th Grade

Fourth graders are relieved to be done with their country reports (hopefully you got to see them displayed during the Community Celebration). We have been focusing on nonfiction in preparation for the children’s book awards after the first of the year. And next week, we’ll take part in the national Hour of Code week on code.org!

Music in 4th Grade

4th graders are working hard to learn the names of the notes on the musical staff: EGBDF on the lines and FACE in the spaces!

We are learning musical vocabulary like “staff”, “octave”, and “treble clef” to help prepare us for playing recorders starting in February!

Art in 4th Grade

4th graders are learning about the beautiful art of henna. Fusing this with their prior knowledge of zentangle, students are creating unique henna inspired hand shaped sculptures using a plastic glove and a styrofoam cup! Art can be made from surprising materials!

Please make sure students are dressed warmly for recess as the weather gets colder. We will be outside for recess unless the temperature falls below 17 degrees.

If you need coats, hats, or gloves, please reach out to Mrs. Groves, Mrs. Warfield or Mrs. Jenkins.

Blacklick Staff Favorite Things Blacklick Staff Favorite Things

A list has been complied of the Blacklick staff's favorite things. It is important to understand the teachers are not asking for gifts. We know that many parents might want to get their child's teacher a gift and this list is to help you select something the teacher would like. Please do not feel obligated to buy a gift for your child's teachers/staff members. A thoughtful note from you and/or your child at any time of the year is appreciated just as much or more as any gift.
