All 7th grade students, 7th and 8th grade student-athletes and new students coming from out-of -state are required by law to have physicals before starting school. Please have these physical forms completed and turned into the office as soon as possible. Students who do not have physicals and the required immunizations (or a waiver) will not be allowed to attend school until these have been obtained. Only one physical is needed per year. Copies of these physicals will be kept on file in the office. Additionally, per Nebraska State Law, all students are required to have a second chicken pox vaccine or documentation of having had chicken pox (or a waiver) from a medical professional before students will be allowed to attend school.

Lockers, Backpacks and Electronic Devices *New* Lockers, Backpacks and Electronic Devices *New*

Lockers, Book Bags, and Personal Electronic Devices (PEDs)

Each GMS student will be provided with his or her own locker. Locker numbers and combinations will be printed at the top of the student schedule. Please memorize the numbers and do not share with anyone. Students are asked to plan their day accordingly and visit their locker as necessary, including between periods, before and after lunch, and at the beginning and end of the day. Locker space should be used to house supplies and books not needed during that specific time of day to help ensure student backpacks are kept in lockers. Please permanently mark personal items with the student’s name and do not bring valuable items to school, or large amounts of money. GMS is not responsible for lost or stolen items.

Additionally, book bags/purses/string bags and PEDs (cell phones, headphones/ear buds, smart watches) will be stored in lockers throughout the school day and will not be allowed in classrooms or hallways, in the cafeteria, or at recess. Please note and discuss this important change regarding PEDs for the 2024-2025 school year with your student, and review the family information/rationale sheet. Parents are encouraged to call the front office to leave a message for their student, should communication be necessary during the school day. Students can also use the front office phones when needed to contact parents.
