Message from the Principal
PLV Families,
At our school, learning goes hand in hand with building strong character. Each day, our students practice living out our school's core values through our Polar Pledge:
We make positive choices
We have positive attitudes
We use positive work habits
We build positive relationships
We are positively kind
These five statements are more than just words we repeat; they guide how we interact in the hallways, support each other in the classroom, and build a safe, welcoming school community.
As we move towards November, we are planning for morning meetings that bring one grade level from the K-2 hallway together with a grade level from the 3-5 hallway to learn and practice these core values. Keep your eyes out for info and pictures of these cross-grade level collaborative morning meetings.
With Polar Pride,
Mrs. Nowell

Morning Arrival Reminders
No students are to be dropped by car in front of the school, especially before 8:45 as there is no adult supervision. All students arriving to school by car must use the carline.
Students who walk to school need to wait near the front door. Students should not be playing tag or running up and down the sidewalk.
PLV Band & Chorus
Due to the 5th grade field trip on 10/20 and storybook character day on 10/30, Ms. Johnson will be splitting band and chorus lessons up between those two days to ensure nobody is missing an extra lesson. For chorus, we will have their next rehearsals on 10/20. 10/26 will be a normal lesson and rehearsal day.
Storybook Character Day Parade-Oct. 30th
PLV's annual storybook character day parade will take place on October 30th beginning at 2:00pm. This is always a highlight of the year with families invited to check out the costumes. The parade will be outdoors in our car-rider lot. Parking will be extra tight. If you park in the neighborhood please be sure not to block any driveways or park in anyoneβs grass.
If you plan to attend and will be taking your student with you at the conclusion of the parade please be sure to complete the form below so we can prepare for a smooth dismissal.
PLV Curriculum Night
You are invited to Pleasantville's Curriculum Night on Nov. 4. Come learn about all the great things our students are learning PLUS how you can support from home. The book fair will be open to shopping!

Classroom Celebrations and Snack Order Info
We have had questions about birthday celebrations and ordering snacks for classrooms. Please find the links below for information about the district outside food policy and ordering classroom celebration snacks. Please be advised that the nutrition department requires orders 10 days in advance. No outside food is permitted.
Dismissal Changes & Reminders
Dismissal changes must be communicated to your child's teacher and Ms. Jaimie in the front office BEFORE 3:00pm. This buffer gives our office staff and teachers enough time to safely route your child to the correct location without any last-minute confusion. Clear communication before 3:00 PM prevents chaotic handoffs at the end of the day and guarantees that every student gets home safely.
Parents in the car line for either arrival or dismissal need to stay in their cars. Staff will signal for students to exit their cars as we do not want students getting out/getting in their cars while cars are still pulling into the line.
Volunteers
All volunteers will need to be on the district approved volunteer list. Volunteers are an integral part of our success and our belief that together we are stronger as a district. Please complete the volunteer application and submit all the information requested. All personal data submitted by applicants is confidential. Including a personal email address in your application will ensure you are informed once your application is approved. As part of standard school safety practices, all volunteers and visitors to CSD schools must provide a photo ID each time they visit any District facility.
This is required for parents/guardians volunteering in the classrooms, visiting for lunch, chaperoning field trips, etc.
