Superintendent's Message
I'm excited to brag on our Business Department! They earned an "A" on the Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas (FIRST)! That may not sound as exciting as some of the other things we celebrate around here, but it really is a big deal. Every dollar that comes into Levelland ISD has to be accounted for. Every dollar we spend has to be tracked, documented in duplicates and triplicates sometimes, and spent the right way out of the right "bucket." There are a lot of moving pieces behind the scenes that most people never see. Our Business Department does an incredible job managing all of that. They aren't just paying bills and keeping the books.....They constantly look ahead, make sure we have the resources we need, make sure we spend wisely, and help us make decisions that keep our district financially healthy. And I think one of the best examples of that is what we've been able to build into our budget. We have planned for sign-on bonuses, TIA payouts, and a retention bonus for our employees. Thank you to Teresa Montemayor, Vanessa Birdwell, Nicki Ramirez, Molly Hastings and Patty Humphreys for all the work you do behind the scenes to keep Levelland ISD great!
Proud to be a Lobo,
Dr. Don Heseman, Superintendent

LMS Back To School!
We LOVE our LMS families! We thank everyone who made it out to support their LMS student at Back To School Night! This night was anxiously awaited, and we loved seeing our halls filled with students, parents & families! Your involvement, encouragement & support mean so much to our students and staff. When our families and schools work together, our students feel supported, connected & ready to succeed. Thank you for showing up, being involved & reminding your student that they have a whole team cheering them on! At LMS, we want every student—and every family—to Find Your Place and know that you belong here! It’s going to be a GREAT year at LMS!
R E S P E C T
In Mr. Hill’s LHS Business classes, students started the year off by thinking about something that matters in every classroom, workplace & community — RESPECT! Inspired by a district training from last year, Mr. Hill asked his students a simple question: “What does respect look like?” Students shared their ideas, worked together to create a list & then turned their words into a classroom poster they can see every day. We love that these expectations didn’t just come from the teacher, but they came from the students! When students have a voice in creating the culture of their classroom, they’re helping make it a place where everyone can Find Their Place, Discover Their Purpose & Create Their Future. Thank you Mr. Hill for this fun start to the year!
Parent Involvement
Capitol Elementary welcomed our 4th-grade families for STAAR Math Night, giving parents a firsthand look at the challenging math skills their students are learning and will see on the STAAR test. Parents worked through multi-step word problems, explored problem-solving strategies & learned just how much thinking goes into finding the right answer! The best part? Our students have the Capitol TEAM behind them! When parents understand what their children are learning, they can encourage those skills at home, build confidence & remind their students that they can do hard things. Thank you to every parent who showed up, participated & partnered with our teachers. Your involvement makes a difference! Together, we're helping every Lobo Find Their Place, Discover Their Purpose & Create Their Future!
Creating Readers!
ABC shares that Mrs. Branch’s first-grade students started their ELAR readers and absolutely rocked their very first partner reading activity! We are so proud of their teamwork, focus, and excitement for reading. Here’s to a great year of growing stronger together as readers! Thank you Mrs. Branch for helping students create their future!
