A Message from Dan Griffin, Director of Advancement

Dear Families,

This is an exciting time to be part of the St. Mary's community! The outpouring of support by our parents towards Pub Trivia Night has been tremendous. We are so grateful for the donations to the Silent Auction, for those of you who will be volunteering your time in assisting with the event, and especially for those who will be joining us for the evening. Special thank you to Magoun Saloon, home of Boston's Greatest Buffalo Wings, who will be catering the event. We are excited to announce a new addition to the Silent Auction: 2 tickets for Celtics vs. Suns on February 3rd! We hope you can join us.

Pre-K

This week in Pre-K, students continued to learn about and discuss winter weather, snow and arctic animals! They explored what snowflakes look like and even built their own! They designed their own snowmen and brainstormed ideas of how to build an ice home in the arctic to keep their penguin friends warm! They then explored different footprints made by animals in the snow and engaged in a fun movement game where we waddled like a penguin, crawled like a bear, and slid like a walrus!

Grade 1

On Tuesday, first grade celebrated Martin Luther King Jr. Students discussed his famous speech, how he was peaceful by using his words rather than his body to make change, and how he aided in ending segregation! Students then created paper bag puppets of the activist and attached a part of his speech to the back of the puppet so that they are able to reenact the most memorable part of his speech.
