SMS Weekly Update
What's Happening This Week:
Step Up Day is May 12th at 12pm. 5th graders from Sultan Elementary School and Gold Bar Elementary School will come up to SMS for a fun visit to learn all about classes, clubs, sports, and expectations. That evening we will host a Parent Informational Meeting at 5pm in the commons. Parents and Guardians are invited to attend! Come and meet staff, learn about what we have to offer, and all the ways you can stay informed and involved with your students learning.
May is Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander Heritage Month! The theme is βA Legacy of Leadership and Resilienceβ. This theme honors the hard work of leaders who set the foundation for future generations to thrive and adapt to change and adversity. We pay tribute to people like Former Congressman Dalip Singh Saund, the first person of Asian descent to be elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 1956, successfully lobbied to end restrictions to citizenship for Indian and Filipino immigrants and gave Asian Americans a voice at the national level.
State Testing is coming up NEXT WEEK. Important reminders for your students:
- Go to bed at a reasonable time to get good sleep
- Eat breakfast, even something small will help!
- Bring a water bottle and dress for comfort in class
