From the Principal:

Hello Middle School South Families,

We are well into our second semester and there are many engaging student events coming up, such as the K–12+ Science Fair hosted by the LZHS Women in STEAM Club and 8th Grade Elective, Athletic, and Activity Night at Lake Zurich High School, designed to help students explore future learning and involvement opportunities.

There are also some fun things coming up for parents in the next few months such as the D95 Educational Foundation Gala in February and the MSS PTO Trivia Night in March.

Please take a few moments to read through this newsletter and I hope everyone has a wonderful long weekend!

Flu Season Information

As we continue into flu season, please see below for important reminders from the Health Office Team:

  • Please be sure to monitor your student for flu-like symptoms (e.g., persistent cough, sore throat, fever, body aches)

  • If your student is experiencing any exclusionary symptoms (such as a fever above 100.4, vomiting or diarrhea), please do not send them to school

  • During this time, preventative measures such as covering your cough, hand-washing, and others can prevent the spread of illness; please be sure to review these strategies with your child at home

For more information on the flu, families can access the Lake County Health Department resource HERE (Spanish version HERE).

Athletics Information Regarding Important Documents and Registration

Needed Forms Prior to First Day of Activity/Tryout:

For students interested in trying out and participating in a sport, students must have the following:

  • Physical: All students participating in tryouts and a sport must have a current physical or sports physical on file. Physicals are good for one year and one month from the date the physical was conducted. Please check to make sure your physical is current prior to tryouts or the start of an athletic activity. The physical should be turned into the Nurse’s Office.

  • Emergency Information Form: Students must have a completed and signed Emergency Information Form for each activity they are trying out for/participating in. They will need to turn this form in to the coach or sponsor at the time of tryouts. If try-outs are not required, then the form should be turned in at the first meeting of the sport or activity.

All required medical forms and athletic schedules can be found on the Athletics & Activities website.

Registration:

All registration for activities will be in ParentVUE and information about registration will be sent later this summer.
