Center High School Hosts Regional Student Government Meeting
What do you get when you bring over 600 students from 25 different schools together for a meeting about student government? Well, for starters you get noise. Lots of enthusiastic, spirited, uplifting, exciting noise.
On October 27th, over 600 students and advisors from 25 area schools converged on Center High School for the annual meeting of the Trails West District of the Missouri Association of Student Councils. The students were there to learn, build relationships, and show their energy and enthusiasm with lots of noise! The day was entirely planned, organized, and run by student leaders, with the members of the CHS Student Government Association in the leading role as District President.

Center Middle School Teacher receives construction industry recognition
Ben Ellis, a teacher at Center Middle School, recently received an award as the outstanding educational partner from the National Institute for Construction Excellence (NICE). The award was presented at the group’s annual awards luncheon, attended by over 500 executives from the construction industry.
Mr. Ellis received the award because of his commitment to getting students involved in the NICE iBuild competition. The competition gives students the opportunity to learn real-world applications for their skills in math, writing, and organizing. Over the past several years, Center students have created amazing projects that have received awards against stiff competition.

Blood Drive organized by students in honor of recent graduate
Reece Damiano, a 2023 Center High School graduate, recently passed away as the result of injuries suffered in a motorcycle accident. During his nearly 4 weeks stay in the hospital, Reece received a lot of blood in an effort to overcome his injuries. After he passed away, members of the CHS community decided to honor his memory by organizing a blood drive to replenish supplies at the Community Blood Center of Kansas City.
The CHS National Honor Society students took the lead on the project. On October 25th 70 donors came to the high school and donated enough blood to save over 185 lives. Reece's parents attended and personally thanked donors for honoring their son.
Others who want to honor Reece's memory can donate at any Community Blood Center location and use the code Ei10.
