Principals' Message Principals' Message

Dear SCS Families and Caregivers,

Our week started with an exciting Celebration of Learning for our K-4th grades led by our fourth grade SLC (Student Leadership Council) focusing on Women’s History Month and the Power of Gratitude with the sharing of the book Gratitude is My Superpower by Alicia Oretgo. Mrs. Emerson’s class was able to Silly String Ms. Roth in honor of leading the school on the 245,614 minutes read across the school. We hope this momentum for reading and finding the joy when we come together carries us through the rest of the year!

We also had some exciting events at the middle level this week. On Tuesday, our 8th grade visits to the Craft School kicked off. This is a tradition dating back 80 years(!) that leads to kids graduating with a new skill and a collection of beautiful art pieces. And, to make sure we are learning from innovative approaches to middle level education across the state, twenty middle level students represented SCS at the Vermont Association for Middle Level Education conference at Champlain College.

As a reminder, students will not be in attendance on Thursday and Friday (3/19 and 3/20) next week. Please be on the lookout for information from your child’s teacher about scheduling a spring conference. We encourage all families to take advantage so we can celebrate your students’ successes and identify areas for continued growth. Have a great weekend, SCS community.

In partnership,

Antonia, Jen and Brett

The SCS Administrative team

Announcements & Reminders Announcements & Reminders

Remember to set up your PickUp Patrol Account

On Tuesday, March 10 all families should have received an email from PickUp Patrol with directions to signup and enter your student(s) dismissal default plan. If you have not signed up, you will automatically receive an email today from PickUp patrol with a link to sign up that is live for 48 hours.

Please use PickUp Patrol from now on to notify us of absences, late arrivals, early dismissals, and end of day dismissal changes. That’s it! This saves you from having to call or email the front office and teachers. Teachers will be notified automatically which help minimize classroom disruptions.

Note to Middle-School families:

- Enter the Default Plan: this is how your student gets home when they do not have an after-schol activity.

- If your student participates in after school activiites throughout the year and you want us to be aware, you can enter a note in their default plan.

If you have any questions, please first check the PickUp Patrol Parent Guide & if you need additional assistance, please contact Jane Graham: jgraham@cvsdvt.org, 383-1101 or Jen Marx: jmarx@cvsdvt.org, 383-1102.
