BULLDOG BULLETIN
February 27, 2026
Dear Bulldog Families,
Thank you to everyone who came out to support our PTO-hosted Culver’s Night! It was so much fun to see so many of our families gathered together. Events like these are such a wonderful reminder of the strong and connected community we share. I brought my son along, and he absolutely loved getting to meet so many of you, especially while enjoying some chocolate custard!
As we continue working together to support our students, I’d also like to remind you to please take a few minutes to complete the 5 Essentials Parent Survey. This is an important opportunity for families to provide feedback that helps guide our school’s ongoing improvement efforts.
The survey opened on February 3, 2026, and will close on March 13, 2026. You can access the survey here:
http://survey.5-essentials.org/illinois/survey/parent/
If you have any questions, please email UChicago Impact Surveys at impact-surveys@uchicago.edu.
Currently, 8% of our families have completed the survey. Our goal is to reach at least 20% participation by March 13. Every response truly makes a difference, and we appreciate your time and partnership!
Thank you again for your continued support of our school community. Have a wonderful weekend!
Fondly,
Dr. Colleen Conway

Flu Season Information
Flu Season Information
As we continue into flu season, please see below for important reminders from the Health Office Team:
Please be sure to monitor your student for flu-like symptoms (e.g., persistent cough, sore throat, fever, body aches)
If your student is experiencing any exclusionary symptoms (such as a fever above 100.4, vomiting or diarrhea), please do not send them to school
During this time, preventative measures such as covering your cough, hand-washing, and others can prevent the spread of illness; please be sure to review these strategies with your child at home
For more information on the flu, families can access the Lake County Health Department resource HERE (Spanish version HERE).

Community-based Resources
In addition to building-level team members (social workers, school psychologists and counselors at the middle/high school levels) available at all buildings to support student social-emotional and mental health needs, the district additionally maintains a list of community-based resources for family consideration. Families interested in accessing our community referral list can do so by clicking the link HERE).
Additionally, District 95 (through a partnership with Joanie’s Closet) has funding set aside to support families who are unable to access mental health services due to limited financial means. Families can learn more about the process for accessing financial support by contacting a building-based team member (social worker, psychologist), or by contacting the Student Services Department (847.540.7060).
The Importance of Play
Play or group activities across the ages (early childhood, elementary, adolescence) is critical for development. Play (or group interactions such as being on a team or in a theatrical production) allows kids to learn and practice critical skills - such as understanding rules of engagement, understanding different ways to socialize with peers, and conflict resolution.
Understanding how to balance play/group interaction opportunities with competing screen time interests can be challenging for families. Parents/guardians can learn more about the benefits of play and ways to create opportunities for these critical learning experiences HERE.
