Multiple Greetings, Mustang Parents and Guardians:
""Excellence is not a skill. It is an attitude." – Ralph Marston
As we approach the end of Progress Report 3, I want to thank you for your continued partnership in supporting the success of our students. This Friday marks the close of the current progress reporting period, and I encourage all families to take time to review grades in Skyward and discuss academic progress with their child. With only two weeks remaining before Thanksgiving Break, now is the perfect opportunity for students to refocus, stay organized, and finish this portion of the semester on a strong note. At Lake Olympia Middle School, we remain committed to our two primary campus priorities: top-notch behavior and top-notch academics. These priorities are the foundation of a positive school culture and help ensure that every student has the opportunity to learn, grow, and achieve at high levels.
Your support at home plays a critical role in helping us maintain these expectations. Please continue speaking with your student about the importance of attending class on time, staying engaged in learning, completing assignments, and making positive choices throughout the school day. As a reminder, participation in school celebrations and special activities, including reward days, pep rallies, dances, and other campus events, is directly connected to both academic performance and behavior. Students who consistently demonstrate responsibility and meet campus expectations earn the opportunity to participate in these experiences. Student who do not meet our expectations will not be allowed to participate. Our goal is to encourage accountability while helping every student understand that privileges are earned through commitment, effort, and positive conduct.
Next week offers several exciting opportunities for students both inside and outside of the classroom. Advisory lessons will continue throughout the week, with math lessons taking place on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday and reading lessons taking place on Tuesday and Thursday. We also encourage our eighth-grade families to explore Fort Bend ISD's High School Program of Choice opportunities, as the application window for the Class of 2031 remains open. On Tuesday, our Cross Country team will compete at Crawford High School beginning at 4:30 p.m. We wish our student-athletes the best of luck as they represent Lake Olympia Middle School.
Wednesday will be a particularly exciting day for our school community as we host our LOMS 8th Grade Career Day, providing students with meaningful exposure to career pathways and future opportunities. That evening, however, we invite all families (grades 6-8) to attend our LOMS Family Career Night from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. This event will provide valuable information for students and parents while connecting families with professionals and resources that can help students begin thinking about their future goals. Best of all, free pizza and refreshments will be provided. Also on Wednesday, our Boys Basketball team will travel to Baines Middle School for a 5:15 p.m. game, while our Girls Basketball team will host Baines Middle School at LOMS on Thursday at 5:15 p.m.
Thank you for your continued partnership and support of Lake Olympia Middle School. Together, we can ensure every Mustang finishes the semester strong and remains focused on reaching their academic and personal goals. Remember, we are "Daring Greatly to Rebuild our Brand and Show PRIDE the Mustang Way!"
Best,
Dr. Hykeem Craft, Principal

NWEA MAP Growth Scores in SKYWARD
Your child's NWEA MAP Growth scores are now available in Skyward in the Test Result tile. These assessments are given during the school year to help teachers understand what your child knows and what they are ready to learn next. For help accessing scores, please see the attached Skyward Job Aid for Parents. This year’s MAP Growth scores are based on updated national norms. The new national norms make sure your child’s MAP Growth results reflect how students across the country are performing today, giving teachers a more accurate picture for setting growth goals.
