A Day in the Life of a Diamond Leader- Oksana Redko
- What has been your motivation for getting involved in the Diamond Leader program? How long have you been a Diamond Leader?
I heard about the Diamond Leader Program through the Fox School of Business, when I was looking at ways to get involved on campus. I am a transfer student, hence there were some challenges for me in adjusting to the new place. But I was looking at opportunities where I could get involved, meet interesting people and give back to the Temple community. I’ve been a Diamond Leader for 2 years. The countless opportunities I've been presented with and the amazing people I have met who are involved in the program are two reasons as to why I remain an acitve member in the Diamond Leader Program.
- How has the experience impacted you?
When I look back at the time that I’ve spent here at Temple University, I am so incredibly grateful and feel blessed to have had the opportunity to be part of such a dynamic group of individuals like the Diamond Leaders. I learned a lot about myself and others.
- What has been your fondest memory?
Spending my summer at the Diamond Leader Retreat at Fellowship Farm was one of the most life enriching experiences. It was truly an opportunity to learn and grow in my understanding of leadership, the Diamond Leader program, and my individual and collective contributions to the Temple community. I made great friends, created alot of memories and learned so many new things for which I am forever indebted to the Diamond Leader Program.
- What is the best part of being a Diamond Leader?
I don't even know where to start… One of the best parts of being a Diamond Leader is the pleasure of building relationships with other compassionate people and creating a positive change.
- Do you have any tips/advice for any future Diamond Leaders?
-Be 100% committed. If you made a decision to become a Diamond Leader, go for it. You will be expected to be dedicated, but you will have great pay-offs afterwards.
-You have to enjoy what you are doing (self-explanatory).
-Develop the right attitude- find a connection with the program coordinators and students themselves.
My advice, JOIN the program. You will fall in love with it.
