On Time and Under Budget On Time and Under Budget

I hope you've had a chance to drive by and see the progress being made on all these projects! As I shared with you last month, we had a ribbon cutting for the completed track work, and a groundbreaking for the start of the next phase of the bond.

I am excited to share with you that we came in under budget on Package 1 for the bond, which included demolition, grandstands, electrical gear and athletic lighting. With the increase in the costs of materials and labor over the last year, I am really proud that we were able to not just stay on budget, but come in under what we projected. We strive to be thoughtful and responsible with taxpayer dollars—and we’re grateful that our community recognized that effort through their support of the bond.

Construction Area Ahead! Construction Area Ahead!

We are now working on Package 2, which includes underground utilities, foundation and concrete work, and the tennis courts. Below you can see the site plan, showing the green area that is already under construction, and the light blue area, which will begin in June.

Transition Planning Continues Transition Planning Continues

The Facility Committee held its final meeting of the year in April, focusing on the transition plan for converting the current high school into the new junior high. Discussions included updates to the library and renovations to the old gym’s locker rooms to better serve junior high students. The committee also discussed potential improvements to the band hall.

The Henrietta ISD community overwhelmingly approved a $36 million investment for a new high school and improvements to athletic facilities on May 4, 2024.

Henrietta ISD Superintendent Jaime Clark stated, "I am so excited for the future of Henrietta ISD and the opportunities these facilities and upgrades will provide our students for generations to come.”

Board of Trustees President Brad Yurcho conveyed gratitude, stating, "This success began many months ago with a community-led Facility Committee of parents, staff and community members who met to ensure all students in Henrietta ISD continue to have access to modern classrooms and innovative programs..”

With voters approving both propositions, the projected tax increase is 23 cents per $100 valuation. This tax rate will still be lower than the 2022 tax rate.
