Our first Attendance Power Day of the year is Friday, Sept. 4! Power Days bring a little extra fun to days when attendance typically drops, while reminding us that every school day matters. Our first theme is Crayon Box! Students are invited to wear their classroom’s selected color and help fill our schools with color.

As the year gets underway, every day of learning counts. If your child is struggling to come to school or has already missed several days, please reach out to your school. We are here to help.

Being present helps students stay connected to their learning, their teachers, and their classmates while building the skills they need to thrive.

Let’s fill our schools with color and classrooms with students on Sept. 4!

Vaping 101 for Sixth-Grade Students Vaping 101 for Sixth-Grade Students

Beginning in September, the Monterey County Health Department will present Vaping 101 workshops to District sixth-grade students.

The workshop helps students understand what is in vaping products, the health effects of vaping, how vaping can affect others, and healthy ways to manage stress. The goal is to give students accurate information so they can make safe, informed choices about their health.

Parents and guardians may request additional information about the presentation from their school’s front office. Questions may also be directed to the Monterey County Health Department at cannabiseducationmchd@gmail.com.

Migrant Parent Voices Needed Migrant Parent Voices Needed

The District Migrant Advisory Committee (DMAC) is inviting parents from Boronda DIAS, Boronda Meadows, El Gabilan, Laurel Wood, Loma Vista, Mission Park, and Monterey Park to participate. DMAC gives Migrant families an opportunity to share their perspectives, learn about programs and services, and help shape how we support Migrant students and families across the District.

If you are a Migrant parent, or know someone who may be interested, please contact your school’s front office for more information.
