Asynchronous Learning Day

Next Friday, January 17, will be an asynchronous learning day. This means that students will stay at home and will be expected to complete assignments as designated by their classroom teacher.

· Student devices will be sent home the day prior for students to use for asynchronous learning purposes only. Except Kindergarten students, they will be bringing packets home to complete and return on January 21st.

· Students who do not attempt the assignments or activities assigned by their teacher will be marked absent.

All teachers will have office hours from 9:00am to 11:00am on January 17 to answer any questions students may have.

5th Grade Career Fair

Oak View will be having a career fair for 5th grade students on Wednesday, February 5th from 10am-12pm. If you, your family members or friends are interested in coming in to share about your/their career please reach out to Terri Simon at simont@district279.org.

Yearbook Information

You recently received email communication from Kemmetmueller Photography to announce that the 2024-2025 yearbook is on sale.

Kemmetmueller will, once again, be providing a grade level year-end review book for each student at no cost. This book will have photos of all students from your child’s grade along with a school-wide photo collage. You DO NOT need to order the year-end review. Each student will receive one!

The full yearbook, which contains photos of all students in the entire school as well as various collage pages, special groups, etc, is being created. Families that would like a yearbook can purchase one for $10 plus tax and a credit card fee. The yearbook order deadline is April 11, 2025, so please be sure to submit your order by then! Yearbooks can be purchased online here: PLIC Books Store

Purchased yearbooks and year-end review books will be handed out at the same time during the last week of school.

Dear Families,

Each year, our Four-Star Express program experiences high demand, often resulting in large waitlists after registration opens on a first-come, first-served basis. To create a more equitable process and align with other early childhood programs, we will be transitioning to a lottery-based registration approach for the upcoming school year.

This year, families at Oak View Elementary have benefited from a unique program that combined Four Star Express with Tuition-Free Pre-Kindergarten to provide a reduced-rate, full-day experience. This opportunity has been invaluable in helping us learn and grow, and we deeply appreciate your support and participation.

As we plan for the 2025-2026 school year, we want to share some updates about early learning opportunities at Oak View Elementary:

  1. Tuition-Free Pre-Kindergarten and Wrap-Around Care
    • A Tuition-Free Pre-Kindergarten will be offered next year at Oak View Elementary. There will be morning and afternoon classes that are two and half hours in length.
    • Four Star Express will offer wrap-around care for mornings, mid-day, and/or afternoons as needed. Please note that there will not be a lottery for Oak View Four Star Express at this time, as it is focused on providing wrap-around care.
    • Families interested in this option must first register for the Tuition-Free Pre-Kindergarten through the Enrollment Center. During the application process, you will be asked about your wrap-around care needs.
  2. Tuition-Free Pre-Kindergarten Application Process
    • Tuition-Free Pre-Kindergarten has an application process. You can learn more here and access the applications below:
      • [2025-2026 Tuition-Free Pre-K Attendance Area School Application]
        1. If Oak View Elementary is your attending school, complete this application. Find your school here.
      • [2025-2026 Tuition-Free Pre-K Open Enrollment School Choice Application]
    • If you have questions about the Tuition-Free Pre-Kindergarten application, please contact the Enrollment Center office at 763-585-7368 or email enrollmentcenter@district279.org.
  3. To learn more about other early learning opportunities in our district click here.

We will closely collaborate with the Enrollment Center to review applications and determine the need for wrap-around care. Families who express interest in wrap-around care will hear from back with next steps from the Enrollment Center.

We are grateful for your continued partnership and look forward to providing enriching early learning opportunities for your children. Thank you for growing with us through these changes.

Thank you,

Oak View Pre-K

Early Release Procedure Change

Dear Families,

We are making an adjustment to our early release/student pick-up procedure. We’re making these changes in order to ensure that the office is able to fully support all the end of day procedures safely and efficiently. Moving forward, here are the changes that we are implementing here at Oak View to our student early release process:

  • Early release pick up can happen during the day up until 3:30.

  • From 3:30 until 4:00, we will no longer be able to call down kids to be picked up from the office.

  • If you need to pick up your scholar between 3:30-4:00 your two options are:

    • Pick them up before 3:30.

    • Wait until 3:55 when we release students.

  • Please notify the office by 3:15 if you are picking your child up before 3:30. We’ll do our best to have your child in the office ready for you.

Changes to your child’s end of day routine

If you are changing your child’s end of day routine, please call the office to notify them of the change. You must call by 3:15 or no change will be made. We will call your child’s teacher and let them know of the change. An example of a change to end of the day routines would be parent pickup instead of bus, bus instead of KidStop, etc.
