A Message From the Principal

We had a great first two days of school this week. We spent time reviewing procedures and expectations. Please review the PAWS Expectations for the middle school, which explain how we Practice Safety, Accept Responsibility, Work for Success and Show Respect in all the areas within the school.

Our PAWS guidelines are in place to create a safe, respectful, and productive environment for all of us. Let's work together to make our school a place where everyone can succeed and feel valued. Your cooperation is essential in achieving this goal.

Community Resource Guide

FSD79 has collaborated with Mundelein School Districts 75 and 120, Fremont Library, Mundelein Parks and Recreation District, and Village of Mundelein to create a shared community resource guide. PTO Back-to-School Bash

Join the Fremont PTO and other families for a night of food, music, and fun to kick off the 2024-25 school Friday, August 16 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Fremont Intermediate School. Food trucks will be on hand, as well as a DJ, games, and a chance to grab a popsicle from our principals. Be sure to join us for an annual highlight of the school year!

Mass Notification Test - Approximately 5:00 p.m. Tonight

As part of our annual safety and security plans, Fremont School District 79 is conducting a test of its emergency notification system today at approximately 5:00 p.m. Around this time, all families should receive an email, text, and robocall via our Finalsite notification platform. Due to the high volume of messages that need to be delivered, please note that recipients may not receive the notification via all three methods right at 5:00 p.m.

In advance of this test, please be sure that your email address and cell phone number are up to date in TeacherEase. If you do not receive all three notifications, please contact the District via this form. Please check your spam folder if you do not receive the email notification in your inbox.

Varsity Tutors for Schools - Free Access for All FSD79 Students!

Thanks to an investment by the Lake County Regional Office of Education through June 30, 2027, every student in FSD79 has access to the Varsity Tutors for Schools platform. This access includes:

100+ Weekly Live Classes
Recorded Enrichment Classes
Self-Study & Practice Resources

Here is a pamphlet and a video that provides an overview of the platform features. Students can go to their Clever Dashboard and select the Varsity Tutors icon to login to the platform. Any chat sessions students participate in are recorded and posted on their dashboard for future reference.

Intramurals

Intramural registration is now open. Please refer to the email sent from Mrs. Peas on Friday, or visit our school website located on our athletics page for more information.

Registration for intramurals can be limited so please register as soon as possible!

Summer Reading

Students, please don’t forget to read your summer book. Summer reading bookmarks are due to your Language Arts Teachers by Friday, August 25. Please find more information here.

Middle School Curriculum Night

Another opportunity to meet teachers is at the Middle School Curriculum Night scheduled for Thursday, August 22, from 6:30 - 8:00 p.m. Please mark your calendars.

8th Grade Washington DC Parent Information Meeting: August 22 from 6:00-6:30 p.m. Large Gym (Contact Andrea Poglayen if you have any questions. apoglayen@fsd79.org)
7th Grade Springfield Parent Information Meeting: August 22 from 6:00-6:30 p.m. Small Gym (Contact Kyle Snow if you have any questions. ksnow@fsd79.org)
Tech Support: 6:30 - 8:00 p.m.: Drop in the Den (library) if you have any tech questions. Mrs. Poglayen will be available for tech support.

Athletics Registration

Fall sports registration is open from August 4th to 18th. Tryouts or practices will begin for most sports on the week of August 28th. If your student is interested in Cross Country, Girls Soccer, Boys Soccer, or Girls Basketball, please fill out the interest form. Please note that an updated school sports physical must be turned in prior to tryouts.

Medical Forms

Health information and medical forms are available on the FSD79 Health Services webpage. Please drop off forms at your child’s school.

Sixth graders must provide a dental examination form and a health examination form with proof of up-to-date immunizations.
Any student who would like to participate in school sports will need a school sports physical before they are allowed to try out.
The school nurse is Rachel Hickok. Please contact her with any questions regarding medical forms. (rhickok@fsd79.org)

Absences

If your child will be absent from school because of illness, doctors appointments, vacation, or for any other reason, please call 847-566-9384 and select option 2 to report it to the school office by 8:00 a.m. the day of the absence. Keeping track of all the students on a daily basis is a huge task, and we greatly appreciate prompt notification of any absence.

The Fremont PTO would love to see you at our meetings this year! Meetings are on the third Wednesday of the month in the Middle School Den at 6:00 pm. Our next meeting is on September 18th.

BACK TO SCHOOL BASH

Join the PTO for our Back to School Bash at the NEW Intermediate School playground THIS Friday, August 16th at 5:30 for food, music, and fun! Check out our flyer for a list of all of the food vendors. We're excited to welcome all of our Fremont families back to campus.

SPIRIT WEAR

Coming soon!! Spread school spirit with custom Wildcats gear! This online sale will run from Friday, August 23rd - Friday September 6th. NO LATE ORDERS WILL BE ACCEPTED! All items are custom-made for you! Once the online sale is complete, items will go into production, which takes approximately 3-4 weeks before being shipped to Fremont. They will then be sent home with your child. Each item is unique and comes from different manufacturers, so please check the sizing guide on each item you are purchasing. AUGUST 23rd NO COOK NIGHT!

We’re excited to announce our first No Cook Night of the school year, Friday, August 23rd from 6-10 pm at Panera Bread, 1575 S. Lake St. in Mundelein. Use code FUNDU at online checkout, in the Panera App, or at the kiosk in-café. See the attached flyer for more details.

PTO MEMBERSHIP/ONLINE DIRECTORY FOR 2024-2025 SCHOOL YEAR

If you already have an account in Membership Toolkit, thank you for creating and/or updating your Membership Toolkit account last year.

If you don't have an account in Membership Toolkit, set it up now for free! Once you have created an account in Membership Toolkit your child will appear in the online directory immediately (that's if you choose to do so). To create an account, go to fsd79.membershiptoolkit.com and follow the directions in the attached form (Online Student Directory Set Up Instructions 2024-2025).

To gain access to the Online Student Directory your account must be active and you must pay the $15 PTO Membership Family Fee. If you paid your PTO Membership fee through your TeacherEase account before June 15th, your payment has been confirmed and you currently have access to the Online Student Directory. If you didn’t pay your PTO Membership Family Fee before June 15th, you can pay the $15 PTO Membership Family fee thru Venmo @Fremont-PTO; or by bringing or sending the attached form with your cash payment or check made payable to Fremont PTO to any school front office. The option to pay the PTO Membership Fee thru your TeacherEase account is no longer available. Once we receive confirmation of your payment, we will give you access to the online directory. Please note it may take up to one week to be granted access to the online directory.

BIRTHDAY BOARD

Celebrate your Fremont Student's special day! "Happy Birthday, Your Child's Name" can appear on the Fremont Electronic Message Board. Just complete the Birthday Board Request Google Form 2024-2025; or complete the birthday board form and send it back to any school front office with your $5 payment per birthday message.
