Orchestra Notes - November 2024
Welcome to PHMS Orchestra!
Concerts
- 12/12: Winter Concert @ 6:30pm
- 5/6: Spring Concert @ 6:30pm
Students will wear concert black for performances, and attendance for all concerts is required.
8th Grade Side-By-Side Concerts
- 11/7: Jefferson Bound 8th Graders
- Where: JHS Auditorium
- When: 5:15pm Rehearsal, 7:00pm Concert
- Attire: Concert white shirt, black pants, & black shoes
- Pizza will be provided before the concert
- 11/12: Lincoln Bound 8th Graders
- Where: LHS Auditorium
- When: 5:30pm Rehearsal, 7:00pm Concert
- Attire: Concert Black (arrive to rehearsal dressed in concert attire)
- 12/6: Roosevelt Bound 8th Graders
- Where: RHS Auditorium
- When: 5:15pm Rehearsal, 7:00pm Concert
- Attire: Concert Black
- Pizza provided before the concert
- 12/7: Washington Bound 8th Graders
- Where: WHS Auditorium
- When: 5:45pm Rehearsal, 6:30pm Concert
- Attire: Concert Black (arrive to rehearsal dressed in concert attire)
Additional Playing Opportunities
- Strings Attached: before school group from 7:40am-8:40am on Wednesdays and Thursdays that is open to 7th and 8th graders.
- This group performs for the Pops Concert, Festival of Orchestras, with the incoming 5th graders, and they go on tour to area elementary schools! See the calendar below for more details.
- All-State Orchestra Auditions: students have the opportunity to audition for MS All-State orchestra. Those selected perform in Mitchell on February 21st and 22nd, and auditions are due November 15th and there is a $15 fee. You can find more information on the SDMEA website found here.
- Encore: LHS students offer free lessons to PHMS students after school. Anyone can sign up for lessons, and they work with you to make it fit into your schedule! Talk to an orchestra director to get more information.
