This Literacy Week we celebrate literacy traditions at home and school.

Only 39% of parents nationally read to their children on a regular basis. We also know that literacy development begins at home before students even enter school and that a strong relationship with books and reading in the family provides a strong foundation for learning. By promoting family reading practices throughout our community we help create a culture of literacy in any language or format.

Some ways to read as a family;

• Set a time for reading each day with your family.
• Listen to a great audiobook at home or in the car (available from the WFPL)
• Visit the Watertown Free Public Library and choose books in many formats and languages.
• Read a cook book and make a recipe.
• Visit a local museum.
• Take a Story Walk in Watertown.

• Literacy Night: Thursday, March 7, 2024 6-7:30pm @ Lowell School
• Upcoming: April 26- May 3, 2024 Scholastic Book Fair in the Learning Commons

Join us for an ALL Lowell School (K-5) literacy night at the Lowell School!
