*Doors open at 7am.

*After the first week parents will be required to drop off in the car rider line. This is a Catoosa County Safety Policy that all primary/elementary schools follow.

*Starting Monday (8/25) students will either walk to the cafeteria (7:00am- 7:30am) or their grade level hallway (7:30am-7:50am).

*We always have helpers to assist students in getting to class or the cafeteria.

*If you would like to eat breakfast (after the first week), ID will be required to enter the building and you must sign-in at front office. Your visitor sticker allows you entrance to the cafeteria only, after you eat please let your child to walk to class alone, sign out at the front office, and exit the building. This is for safety purposes. It is important that I know who is in the building and where they are.

*Our bus entrance will only be used for buses and preschool drop off, all other car riders will need to enter and be dropped off through the main car rider line.

*Class time and attendance are important this year our bell will ring at 7:45 and instruction will start at 7:50. It is important that your student arrives on time so they aren't missing any key instruction.

*Dismissal and arrival will take longer the first couple of weeks, but I promise it does get better!

Safety

At RPS, our number one priority will always be the safety of students and staff. Some of the procedures may seem inconvenient, but they are necessary and we hope that you will understand and be patient with us. We also have a variety of different safety drills that we will practice throughout the year. So far we have had a fire drill and our next drill will be our Run, Hide, Survive drill.

  • If you would like to enter RPS, you must bring your ID.
  • Parents are required to drop students off in the car rider line instead of walking students to class. No visitors will be allowed in hallways during arrival.
  • If you would like to eat breakfast with your child, please bring your ID and sign in at the front office for a visitor's pass. This pass will allow you entrance to the cafeteria only. Once you eat with your child, please sign out at the front office. Your child will walk to class by themselves (we have monitors on duty to assist).
  • All exterior doors remained locked throughout the day and we use a buzz in system for visitors.
  • Classroom doors also remain locked.

From the Nurse's Clinic:

REMINDER that all treats (cupcakes, etc) that are sent into school for parties and celebrations must be labeled with the list of ingredients. This is for safety purposes as we have many students with various food allergies. Thanks for your support.

Guidelines for sending a child back to school following an illness:

A fever is considered a temperature of 100.4 or higher.

If a child has been sick with fever, vomiting or diarrhea they should NOT return to school until they have been fever free, no vomiting or diarrhea for a 24 hour period without the use of any medications.

CCPS Medication Policy:

"All medications must be brought to the school office, in the original pharmaceutical container clearly labeled as to the name of the student, name of the medication, the appropriate dosage, and time for each dosage. A parent, legal guardian, or designated adult is responsible for transporting medications to and from school. A medication authorization form must be signed by the parent or guardian, and on file in the school office. A medication log will be kept by the school which indicates dates, times, personnel administering medication. Medications will be kept secure at all times, administered and monitored, in the presence of school personnel."

Car Rider Line Drop-Off & Pick-Up Procedures Ringgold Primary School

  • All parents/guardians must stay in the vehicle. We recognize that some of our students may need extra help to enter/exit the vehicle. A staff member will be available to assist your child.

  • Please make sure your child is prepared to exit/enter the vehicle once you have come to a complete stop.

  • Please pull forward as far as possible so that our car rider line will go smoothly and there is no confusion for your child.

  • Please make sure your car tag is clearly visible in the front windshield until your child is safely in the vehicle.

  • Please allow your child to exit/enter the vehicle on the passenger side.

  • We are a tobacco free campus. Smoking is prohibited on our campus at all times, this includes vapes.

  • Please refrain from using cell phones or electronic devices while in the car rider line.

  • If your child needs help with their seatbelt in the afternoon, please pull off to the side as you are exiting our line. This will keep the flow of the car rider line moving.

  • If you have forgotten your car tag or have not given it to the designated person responsible for picking up your child, you must provide your ID. Depending on the length of the line you may be asked to park and show your ID in the main office. Please remember to have your ID ready for office personnel.

*We have instituted these procedures for the safety of our students. With this policy, we are able to avoid mishaps that can occur without appropriate and safe procedures in place. We hope that every parent/guardian will help us in improving this process. The safety of our students comes first.

We thank you for your understanding and patience. ☺

School Traffic

AM Enter RPS campus at the main entrance (Evitt Lane) from Holcomb Road. Drop students off in a single line at the car rider entrance door (nearest the gym) and sidewalk.

  • Please help us by having students ready to get out of the car.

  • Please have bookbags on and if they are able to open the door so they can proceed into the building quickly.

  • Outside monitors will not unbuckle students.

  • If a student needs assistance, then parents need to park, unbuckle and then walk your student into the building using the main entrance door only.

  • No one walking their student into the building will be allowed to enter the bus or car rider entrances.

  • DO NOT pass cars that are unloading in the line.

****Parents who have students at both RPS and RES****

We ask that you drop off all students on the RPS side in the mornings and then pick-up all students on the RES side.

In the morning the students will walk to their respective sides and in the afternoon RPS kids will be walked over to the RES gym and wait for their name to be called as a car rider with their siblings.

PM Enter campus at the main entrance (Evitt Lane) or from Holcomb Road with a car tag showing student name(s) in the front window of the car.

  • Students will load along the sidewalk from the front door all the way to the car rider door.

  • Please refrain from using tobacco and/or vapes while on school grounds.

  • Car riders not picked by 3:00 p.m. will be considered “drop in” Cub Care participants and parents will be responsible for those charges.

  • DO NOT pass cars that are unloading in the line.

The safety of our children is paramount to anything else in our lives.

Please follow the school rules for entering and exiting the grounds.

DO

  • Stay in a single file line of traffic. DO NOT pass cars that are unloading in the line.

  • Allow buses the right-of-way.

  • Let students out of the car only along the sidewalk in front of the school.

  • If you are coming into the school, park in designated parking places and walk your child all the way across the street to the sidewalk in front of school.

  • Encourage students to open the car door and exit by themselves. Staff will be on duty to assist as needed.

  • Parents please do not exit the vehicle while in the car rider line.

  • If you do NOT have your car tag, you will be asked to park and go in to show ID.

DO NOT

  • Block the pick-up lane.

  • Drive in the bus pick-up area.

  • Drive the wrong direction on the one-way drive.

  • Break in line in the carpool line.

  • Let your child off in the middle of the parking lot where he/she must walk in front of traffic.

  • Park in “staff” parking places anytime during the day.

  • Exit the vehicle during car rider arrival and dismissal.

  • Pass cars that are loading/unloading in the line.

Note: Car traffic around the school can be problematic, especially at the beginning of school. This is due to the volume of parents who wish for their child to be a car rider. Please allow yourself enough time to get to school prior to 7:45. This will ensure your child is not tardy due to high traffic.
