Summer Update

Tomahawk Intermediate School

SummerUpdateTomahawk Intermediate School

Dear Families,

I hope you're enjoying a restful and fun summer break! We've been busy preparing for an exciting school year ahead and wanted to share a few important updates with you.

Our building is currently closed for construction as we undergo some exciting upgrades—including enhancements to our HVAC system and the addition of five brand new classrooms in the 3rd grade wing! While this work is still in progress, we are hopeful that the building will reopen after August 1st.

In the meantime, this message includes information on:

  • Important upcoming dates

  • Orientation details

  • Transportation and new student enrollment

  • How and when you'll find out your child's teacher

  • A current list of our staff members

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out. I’m available by email at kematrudo@k12.wv.us, as our office staff will not return until the first week of August and I may be in and out of meetings or attending required trainings.

We’re looking forward to another fantastic school year at Tomahawk Intermediate, and we appreciate your continued support and partnership!

Warm regards,
Dr. Ematrudo
Principal

Transportation for the 2025-2026 School Year Transportation for the 2025-2026 School Year

Please choose BCS busing for your student!

With an increase in our population, we are growing by the minute! Our school parking lot was not originally designed to handle a tremendous amount of vehicle traffic. We are asking all families to choose BCS busing as their child's mode of transportation.

To find your child's bus # and bus stop information, please click here: http://webquery.bcswv.org/livewq/webquery/.

We are going to have very strict guidelines in place for parents who choose to drive their child to and from school to ensure student safety in the parking lots. Cars will not be permitted on school property earlier than 8:00 AM in the morning and 2:45 PM in the afternoons.

Your cooperation and understanding are both greatly appreciated!

New Student Enrollment New Student Enrollment

I am looking forward to another healthy school year at Tomahawk! If your child requires emergency medication at school such as an EpiPen, inhaler, diabetic or seizure medication, per BCS policy, these must be present in the health clinic prior to the first day of school. Please be sure your new orders are dated on or after July 1st. Orders and medications can be brought into the school beginning August 11th, and on orientation night.
