The Fall Library Update

Fall Library Update, September 2025
It's fall, y'all!!
It's officially the best time of the year (for me) and if you've been in the library, you've probably figured out Halloween is my favorite. We have a great selection of spooky reads to get you in the spirit, too!
We also have a shelf of NEW books right up front, a couple of which are the perfect selection to read with a friend. There's nothing better than loving or hating a book with someone you also love.
Also new are our 25-26 Battle of the Books books! If you are interested in signing up to compete with us this year, but haven't yet, please email Mrs. Simpson as soon as possible, we'll hold our first meeting soon.
Circulation is UP!
This may not matter to anyone else, but circulation (this means folks checking out books) is up 176 PERCENT from this time last year!! That is tremendous and I love seeing your faces in here anytime, but especially when you're checking out a book!
Stranger Sagas Writing Contest
Deadline is Halloween!
From now until Halloween, you can pickup an entry form for the Young Writers USA Stranger Sagas Short Story Contest in the media center. Entries have to be short, a max of 100 words. Your story can be in any genre or style. I will submit all entries for consideration on Nov. 1. Winners will have the chance to have their stories published in a book, as well as other prizes! Come by the media center to pick up an entry form and get some ideas from the inspiration postcards. You can also email any questions to eren.simpson@nhcs.net.
Countdown to TS12
💃"Make the friendship bracelets"💃
In case anyone else is counting down to the release of "Life of a Showgirl" on Friday, there's a friendship bracelet table set up in the library to use at your leisure. Hope it adds a little joy to an otherwise rainy/gloomy week.
New Webpage!
The Media Center has an updated webpage! Things should be easy to find and accessible, and updates will be frequent. So be sure to bookmark it and stay up to date on the latest news and happenings in the library.
Classroom collaboration
So far this fall we've done scavenger hunts and book speed dating with several of our English classes.
But there's more than books in the library. I can help with hands-on projects like dioramas, etc. for science or math, creative inspiration through art history books, blackout poetry activities, help with research, writing and reporting ... anything you and your students need. Have a lesson plan idea you need fleshed out a bit? Give me a call.
Hispanic Heritage Month
Come check out our great selection of books celebrating the Hispanic experience.

TECH ALERT
Check for updates
Students, please check your laptop for updates WEEKLY!
Go to your settings (click the windows, icon, hit the thing that looks like a wheel) then at the bottom of the left side menu, hit "windows update." Once there, hit the "check for updates" button and if there are any, hit 'install." Then follow the prompts and restart your computer when prompted.
This will keep your computer running smoothly and avoid a lot of the small things that crop up when your computer is 'acting up.
