BOARD COFFEE COMES TO RUNNING CREEK ELEMENTARY BOARD COFFEE COMES TO RUNNING CREEK ELEMENTARY

a group inside library having discussion with board members
We had a great turnout for the latest Board Coffee session. It was held on Thursday, October 24th at Running Creek Elementary. Parents and community members had the opportunity to chat directly with Superintendent Dan Snowberger, ESD board members Heather Booth and Mike Calahan along with RCE Principal Michael Seefried.

Some of the topics discussed included better ways to utilize technology at the elementary level, the integration of art and specials in elementary schools and how both elementary schools can work together on programs and enrichment that can benefit the entire community. Coffee and pastries were included at the session.

We always look forward to these discussions and often times it leads to fresh ideas and new concepts being brought to the table.

The next Board Coffee session is scheduled for Tuesday, November 12th at Elizabeth High School from 3:30-4:30 p.m. and we are hoping for a good turnout there too!

Thanks to everyone who took the time to join the latest conversation.

EHS ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL JOHN EVERHART FOUND HIS PASSION THROUGH COACHING EHS ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL JOHN EVERHART FOUND HIS PASSION THROUGH COACHING

National Principals Month Spotlight: John Everhart, EHS Assistant Principal and Athletic Director

As we continue to celebrate National Principals Month, we shine the spotlight on John Everhart, Assistant Principal and Athletic Director of Elizabeth High School.

John's passion for education actually began with coaching. After graduating college, he was hired by Oppenheimer Funds to help clients with investments and handling stocks. After deciding that the cubicle life was not in his future, John decided to take his side job as a basketball coach to the next level.

From that point, he pursued his passion for coaching in athletics, which eventually led him to Elizabeth School District. Now, he juggles the big jobs of Assistant Principal and Athletic Director. He admits that it can be a challenge at times, but that he is surrounded by extremely supportive staff at the high school.

John says his favorite parts of the job is seeing EHS students succeed and having graduates contact him to give updates on their personal and professional successes. Thank you John for all that you do for EHS!

CAKE, CARS AND CAREERS FUNDRAISING EVENT IS RIGHT AROUND THE CORNER AT EHS CAKE, CARS AND CAREERS FUNDRAISING EVENT IS RIGHT AROUND THE CORNER AT EHS

Cake, Cars and Careers Fundraising Event October 29th To Benefit The EHS Auto Building Project

Attention ESD community: We are all set for Cake, Cars and Careers!

It's the latest fundraising effort for the EHS Auto Building Project. We are about two-thirds of the way there (as long as all pledges come through) of hitting our fundraising goal of $300K.

We're in need of about $100K to finish the EHS Auto Building. Our hope is to raise the remaining amount at the upcoming Cake, Cars and Careers event. It's being held at the EHS Cafetorium next Tuesday on October 29th from 6-8 p.m.

We invite the community to stop by, have some cake, learn about the EHS Auto program and check out some classic, collector cars in the parking lot (weather permitting). Also at the event, there will be a paddle raise fundraiser. That's where you can place a bid on custom tiles with your name on it that will be installed inside the EHS Auto Building. We have floor tiles, wall tiles and plaques that are up for grabs.

Check out the interview here with EHS Auto Shop Instructor Derek Spohn for the latest information. You can also place a donation now to the project by visiting the link below or scanning the QR code in the video.

We look forward to seeing you at Cake, Cars and Careers!

MARK YOUR CALENDARS FOR THE EHS ALTERNATIVE EDUCATION PROGRAM THANKSGIVING MARK YOUR CALENDARS FOR THE EHS ALTERNATIVE EDUCATION PROGRAM THANKSGIVING

flyer for thanksgiving dinner for EHS alternative education

As the year moves along, we are once again getting to the holiday season.

On November 21, 2024, at 5:00 p.m., EHS’s Alternative Education Program will host its 2nd community Thanksgiving Dinner. Frontier High School students started this tradition 29 years ago, and they served hundreds of community members and cooked many turkeys for 23 years until the high school closed. We are excited to pick up that proud tradition with our Alternative Education Program at Elizabeth High School. We are partnering with Smokey Trail BBQ, who has graciously donated their time to smoke hams and turkeys for the event.

In addition, our students play the primary role in preparing and serving this meal as a way to say thank you to the community for their ongoing support. They learn firsthand the value of service and what it takes to host an event of this size. It is truly an honor for us to serve the community in this way.

We cannot do this alone! With the idea of bringing the community together and keeping this tradition alive, we are seeking donations throughout the greater Elizabeth community. We are in need of items for door prizes & drawing baskets, pies, and financial donations to help with purchases. Gift cards to Wal-Mart, Safeway or King Soopers are a great option.

As a part of the event we also conduct drawings for door prizes. If you or your business have items or gift certificates or gift cards that you would like to contribute to this, it would be much appreciated. Our point of contact for your contribution is Lori Horton. We need all donations by November 14, 2024, except pies. (Pies - please bring 11/20 or 11/21, please let Lori know).

Please feel free to contact Lori Horton at lhorton@esdk12.org
