Week of March 12, 2023
Check out the fun we had this week celebrating Read Across America Week!
A little about the history of the week: Read Across America Week is celebrated the first week in March beginning on the birthday of Dr. Seuss. The entire month of March is dedicated to reading. The National Education Association aims to encourage reading and educates people about its benefits, especially among children and young adults. Special events are organized across the nation by school sand organizations to promote the impact of reading.
Check out the Weymouth Library’s Reading challenge: 1000 books before Kindergarten.

Are you up for a challenge? Boy, do we have one for you! The Weymouth Public Libraries would like to see every child entering Kindergarten do so with 1000 books under their belt. Children who are read to on a regular basis increase their vocabularies and comprehension of the world. They are in a better position to make connections with new information presented to them. In short, they are ready to learn. Reading with your child is the easiest way to activate your child's brain. Not only that, but it's a great way to share some special one-on-one time with your favorite little person. Are you ready to join the challenge? Let us know by signing up.
Enjoy!

Parent Council
Looking for new members! Our current leadership team will be moving on to the primary schools this fall. We value and appreciate all that they have been able to do this school year for our students and staff. Please consider joining this amazing group of volunteers that provide support to our Johnson School community as we will be looking for future leaders for the 2023- 2024 school year.
Parent Council provides many opportunities for you to connect with other parents and become involved in the Johnson ECC school community. Parent Council supports our students and teachers with educational programs, supplies, and more. Parent involvement is the foundation for school success. Have a suggestion or a talent to share? We want to know!
All parents and guardians are welcome to attend monthly meetings.
